Second thing about Ipoh. I think it has even better food than Penang. Really one! So far everything i’ve eaten, even from some obscure hawker center was delicious! 
Just one thing, their popular food spots are forever so crowded.
The famous Ipoh bean sprout chicken. So many people can die.
I supposed would have died of hunger if i waited.

I am just wondering. In Cantonese, we actually pronounce them as “Ho Hee” and “Ho fun“. Why do we have to add an R always? We never pronounce them as Horrrrrrr Fun in real life! Where’s the logic? Same goes for Charrrrrrrrr Kuey Teow. By adding an R seems like it spells nicer. Sound more angmoh-ish is it? Whoever did the translation was so stupid. And now everyone’s been spelling like this officially since cheese knows when and no body ever bothers if it makes sense. 0_o
Haha i don’t know what else to call it.
The super famous ipoh charrrrrrrrrrrrrrr kuey teow. Everyone goes to the hawker center to eat from that particular stall.
The other stall have resorted to miniskirt appeal to turn some heads (hopefully customers too) over. =P

I think the “liu” thing is called “Yong Tau Foo” (at least in Singapore)
And the green nasi lemak is made by adding pandan leaves juice.

Actually I diagaree on Ipoh food better then Penang, its just that the Ipoh town is smaller so the food are easier to find, in Penang you need to know where to eat and at what time cuz their hawkers open on a specific time and normally closes early if they are famous -__-lll by thw way the best satay in Ipoh not halal one oooooo if you know where to find it that is………..next time if you want I bring you go jalan jalan makan makan spree all over the peninsula lar hahahaha……………….all also Cheesielicious one, once you tasted it you will ask for more…….
But you so good lar eat so much still so slim, if for me I dunno put on how many pounds already lor……

I’m from Ipoh. I think you have tried almost all the delicious food in Ipoh old town. I miss Ipoh now as I haven’t gone back Ipoh since CNY. I’m a bad girl, hor?
That HOR FUN you have commented was actually Kei See Hor Fun as local Ipoh called as. HOR HEE was actually Yu Tan Fun as it contains of fish balls. You should have tried egg custard and their famous ‘chai cha’ (leng shui) in the same shop too.
Kam char fun is the most expensive char fun in Ipoh and its serving is too little for a person.
Besides the famous tourist crowded food stalls, there are many hidden good food that local Ipoh know of…hehe… I miss Ipoh white coffee now… IPoh white coffee in KL sucks…

I’ve always known the “liu” as yong tau fu, too for the first one and the second one are fish balls. Those food look so delicious in those photos!! How did you manage to eat so much with so little time!!!

damn pro. but the shop you took photo of selling tauge chicken sucks shit. its so commercialised, the kuay teow taste like chemicals. There’s a better shop in Silibin, Ipoh where you also get to see Indians speaking fluently in Cantonese! xD

Ipoh ~ The food paradise. I’ve been to Ipoh before too. A non-stop eating trip to be exact. Too many delicious foods around. Luckily we have friends in Ipoh back then to guide us to the best-in-town hawker stalls (^_^)V

Paul: Lai Niu Har is Mantis Prawns. they are these really horrible looking prawns…..the body of a prawn with a head like a praying mantis……..but my god are this buggers delicious!!! eat the steamed with some salt…………yum yum……

YES you are absolutely right. Many Ipoh’s food as good if not better than Penang.
I can sort of guess where you went to eat in Ipoh. Must be “LOK WOOI KOI” and “KONG HENG” among others.

Please la…Ipoh’s food is so much better. Penang can’t even do a proper kai see hor fun. Only good food in Penang is their assam laksa.

My late husband was born in Ipoh. We were not married for very long when he passed away. I went to Ipoh for Chinese New Year 2008 to meet the family. Ipoh has the best food in the world and the cheapest. I will always go back to Ipoh. Love it!
