Tokyo never fails to dazzle, which is why it is my favorite city in the whole wide world (but oops you already know that!).
This winter, it’s going all out for Super Mario fans!
Until January 13, 2025, the Marunouchi area near Tokyo Station is leveling up with a Super Mario-themed wonderland. If you’re ready to embark on a quest and gather some serious holiday fun, this event is your golden opportunity to press start on an unforgettable adventure.
A Whimsical Winter in Marunouchi
Before we dive into Marunouchi, let’s take a moment to appreciate Tokyo Station. This isn’t just any station—it’s one of Japan’s most important travel hubs. With its iconic red-brick façade and modern interiors, it is a marvel of design and efficiency, connecting Japan’ capital to almost everywhere else in Japan.
And when you step out of its exits, you’re greeted by a world of elegance and charm—welcome to Marunouchi.
Marunouchi is Tokyo’s swanky hub, where sleek business towers and shopping malls galore set the stage for the city’s latest trends in fashion, dining, and culture. Nestled between the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station, Marunouchi combines modern sophistication with a sprinkle of seasonal charm this year.
Mario Mania: What’s in Store?
The “MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY 2024” event is packed with Super Mario fun and surprises. Here’s why this celebration deserves a place on your holiday itinerary:
1. Super Mario Sightseeing Spots: Pose with towering Mario and Luigi displays, marvel at Yoshi-inspired installations, or pop up from a green Warp Pipe! While it won’t actually transport you to another dimension (sadly, no shortcuts to the gift shop), it’ll feel like you’ve stepped into the fantastical universe of Super Mario, but with less lava and a lot more festive cheer.

2. Stamp Rally: Ready to unlock Mario achievements in real life? Grab your stamp rally booklet and set off on a hunt across Marunouchi.

Each completed stamp brings you closer to a special prize, which you can redeem it at designated counters in the Marunouchi areas. It’s an adventure worthy of Mario himself, but without the pesky Piranha Plant.
Lighting Show Extravaganza: Don’t miss the mesmerizing lighting show, happening every 15 minutes from 5 PM each day at Marunouchi Building 1F MARUCUBE. The show features everyone’s favorite iconic Super Mario melody paired with a dazzling power-up illumination.

3. Exclusive Mario Merch: Calling all collectors! The Super Mario pop-up store is packed with treasures, including official Nintendo TOKYO/OSAKA/KYOTO merch and brand-new winter-themed goodies.
4. Special Menu: After all that exploring, it’s time to refuel! Local cafés and restaurants have teamed up to create special menus that are almost too delightful to eat, blending creativity and festive charm into each unique dish including mains and desserts.
