Switzerland

Franc-ly Switzerland is nothing but expensive

May 5, 2011

And i’m just putting these leftover pix from Zurich together to construct this piece of crap.

So please don’t expect this post to be anything more than half-assed. In fact, it may not even contain real ass. Not even half.

So if you want to bugger off and read 9gag.com or watch some Redtube i totally don’t blame you. You jerks.

photo

#1

What? Of course i’m looking at your non existent fashion sense. Not.

photo

#2

If you wonder how people live in Zurich

photo

#3

You just have to find a window.

Believe it or not this is a weather proof bicycle. Fully manual with peddle and mechanical shit like that.

This is when i discovered that i want to be cool like people who have those collectible shit. Mine is now snow globes. Now you know what to get me when you walk into a souvenir shop. You’re welcome.

Half-ass frozen fountain.

photo

#11

Dunno what we’re trying to do.

photo

#12

Definitely not something very clever.

photo

#12

I discovered that roasted chestnuts are like the only thing i could afford in Switzerland.

photo

#13

Full-ass frozen fountain.

photo

#14

Swiss people read English, right?

photo

#15

This is the last semi pseudo good looking photo of me of the trip. Then i didn’t bother looking into the mirror anymore.

photo

#16

Some Swiss lottery thing.

photo

#17

I mean, Swiss people do understand English, right? No, seriously.

photo

#18

When i discovered this i was like =)=)=) but then i was like -_--_--_-

Because i found out that it’s fake. Some asshole gave this plant a hair dye.

photo

#19

Sausage shop.

photo

#20

Some gay and obese version of Cinderella left this on the road nobody bothered to pick it up wtf.

Yea i know. I somehow have this naive idea that an upside down picture will make you look prettier.

Holy Cheese

March 3, 2011

I always say Swiss cheeses are the most divine because they are holey wtf.

We had Raclette party and also cheese fondue in Zurich! And here are some of the food we had.

photo

#1

Muesli for breakfast

photo

#2

Why is it french cheese

photo

#3

Pancakes and like 90 kinds of jams

photo

#4

Rosti and calf liver.

photo

#5

Some ham thing. Even if i knew the name also i can’t pronounce it.iii

photo

#6

I know this thing. Let me check what it is called.

photo

#7

Of course! What else, it is a Weissweinschaumsuppe!

photo

#8

Apple jam not for dessert but for the pasta iiiiiiiiiiii

photo

#9

Oooh i like this thing. It’s Soba noodle with whipped cream topped with cherry wtf.

No la. It’s some chestnut meringue dessert, yummy!

photo

#10

photo

#11

Marcel’s dad’s birthday that day and he got to blow champagne candles!

photo

#12

And on another day, we went to a Raclette party. Raclette is a type of Swiss cheese, so it is indeed a cheese party! And it was my first time attending a cheese party as… Cheesie wtf.

photo

#13

There was like 90 kinds of salads that night!

Europeans are so healthy. Their food party always have lots of greens. They will have, say, a bowl of buttered corn, some vinegared shredded carrot, a bowl of fresh mixed lettuce, some boiled broccoli, some artichoke, some beet root, sour cream and cucumber…  I wonder why Malaysian cannot do the same, is it because our veggies suck?

If i mention a Malaysian house party what comes to your mind? Hmmm. I’d say curry chicken. Fried chicken. Fried bee hoon. Fried nuggets. Fried samosa. And maybe fried spring rolls. Then coleslaw from KFC wtf.

photo

#14

The kids love popcorn!

photo

#15

Some salami!

photo

#16

Shinta and her doodles.

photo

#17

Star of the night! This is the half moon Raclette to be heated, melted and then celebrated in our happy tummy.

photo

#18

Queuing for the cheese that’s…

photo

#19

…Hot and bubbly!

photo

#20

Cheese master scrape the melted Raclette onto our paper plates (one thing about the paper goods  in Switzerland, it’s so good quality thick you almost feel criminal to throw it away. Their toilet paper is as thick as kitchen napkin wtf. Wonder how their sanitary pads feel like wtf. Good pulps you have, Swiss trees.) and ready to eat!

photo

#21

I had 4 plates of these things. It was the best thing i’ve eaten in Zurich.

photo

#22

And the last night in Zurich we went for cheese fondue! This is the starter plate.

photo

#23

And then it’s just cheese. ALL THE WAY.

photo

#24

Cheesie and bread.

photo

#25

“Wow. Swiss really fondue cheese.”

photo

#26

It may look abit disturbing but trust me, the best part has yet to begun.

photo

#27

According to Marcel, for some connoisseur, it is a huge fondue faux paus , to let the base harden and get burnt. That means you are a lousy fonduer (?) because you didn’t stir the pot enough. But for me it’s heaven wtf.

photo

#28

Who likes to scrape burnt rice in a claypot? Hand please!

This is only like 90 times better than burnt rice.

photo

#29

Burnt cheese. If i tell you how good it is you will be jealous so i won’t elaborate wtf. #lazytothinkoffooddescription

photo

#30

This is Celia, whom i think looks really like Keira Knightley!

photo

#31

Burger King ad.

photo

#32

Which i think is really cute :D

photo

#33

Fried cheese. Why don’t they have it here T_T

photo

#34

And their fondue burger!

That’s all! Hungry nao bai!

Mt Rigi

February 24, 2011

A lot of other things to blog but as i browsed through my  Euro trip pictures, these are some pictures i cannot resist to share nao nao nao!

On the second last day in Zurich we went up to Rigi Mountain, initially for skiing, but there were a lot of kids traveling with us so in the end we just did sledding, which was good fun too ^^

photo

#1

In the car driving up the mountain. It was foggy and just white everywhere.

photo

#2

photo

#3

photo

#4

Reached the base of the mountain, waiting for the train to come.

photo

#5

Scenery from the train.

photo

#6

Suddenly the surrounding became all bluish it was almost magical like we have entered Twilight wtf.

photo

#6

They say it is due to the reflection of sky but i dunno la i think Edward has arrived wtf.

photo

#7

Think i’m about to grow fangs.

And when we got to the top of the mountain, it was bright and sunny. It was a sight i’ve never seen in my life.

photo

#8

Seriously one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever seen.

photo

#9

Like an ocean of clouds!

My Europe Fashion Graph

February 7, 2011

This is my usual post-travel style shot post. Two weeks worth of fashion diary.

Before i start, here’s a graph i painstakingly drew on Photoshop after some Herculean effort (i had to stop chatting for 20 minutes and completely shut my mind to conserve some brain cells so that i could come up with this challenging and almost puzzle-solvingly enigmatic graph).

Please stare at it for at least 5 minutes to give it some well-deserved appreciation.

As you will notice in this post, the temperature of the day in the place of my travel directly affects the whateverness and anyhowness of my awesome fashion sense.

We traveled from Venice to Lyon to Zurich, which only got colder by both location and day. The temperature was dropping as we moved on so i sort of had to wear thicker and thicker.

photo

This is another graph to illustrate also the corelation between the day of travel and said awesomeness.

Day one is low because everyone looks like shit after a 20-hour flight. Then steadily but rapidly decreasing  from day to day, until somewhere in the middle of the trip where guilt begins to take over, hence the occurrence of a surge in graph, a result of a desperate attempt to bring up the awesomeness almost, but not really unsucessfully.

Here are some pictures for reference. They are almost all taken in hotel rooms so they are a bit blurry. I couldn’t take the picture outside, because i would have looked the same from like day 1-7 because there were only so many winter coats i brought T_____T.

photo

#1

First day checking in to Hotel Danieli in Venice. It was much colder than i expected, because just a few days before we flew the temperature was about 9°C. I know if i didn’t do this Liz Lisa thing it would just sit in my luggage forever till the day i send it back to Malaysia. I didn’t exactly have a pair of matching leggings, that explains the lack of full body shot. Also because there wasn’t full length mirror in the hotel.

photo

#2

Taken on the same day evening. Already put on the warmest scarf, gloves and jumper because not used to the cold yet fml.

#3

This is day 2. And my best effort ever. That’s why the picture is bigger.  It also deserve a longer lingering stare because this was the only day i ever bothered to put on this much make up complete with falsies and circle lens. And the only day with a conscious hair style. T__T

#4

So this day deserves two pictures.

#5

Actually, three.

#6

Day 3. Braved myself to wear leggings and shorts wtf. And please look away from my exploding wastline wtf.

photo

#7

Day 4′s fashion was so shit i should have taken picture of my shadows instead.

#8

With my new Hello Kitty top i bought from Venice!

photo

#9

First day in France. A brand new (and foolish) mood  trying to wear my 4 inches Liz Lisa suede boots wtf.

photo

#10

Trying to look smart for Bocuse d’Or day.

photo

#11

Oredi deliriously confused about the whole fashion thing cuz i started to have to repeat wearing the same things so just anyhow threw in things that i haven’t worn so that the  KGs and all the sore arms from luggage hauling didn’t get wasted T___T

photo

#12

This is don’t-really-care-anymore-and-i-look-fat-but-here’s-a-picture-to-warn-the-future-me-not-to-make-the-same-mistake photo.

photo

#13

Just arrived Zurich. Have been reserving my warm boots for the snow. That was me eating hotel’s complimentary Swiss snack.

photo

#14

I know. If i could, i would never, ever have worn a dress with a pair of jeans. If only i could.

photo

#15

Had to recycle my Liz Lisa top cuz running out of things to wear wtf *panicked

photo

#16

Outfit to the snow mountain. Minus the jacket. I kind of want to give myself some credit here for even bothering to want to mix and match each day so that i look different inside when i had to the same jacket for the rest of the trip that makes me look 8 months pregnant.

photo

#17

Let me praise myself again for even trying to escape that Pregnant Jacket so that i could give this it’s-really-not-that-thick-you-will-definitely-regret-this black rider jacket a chance to be on this blog since it was the last day of our trip before i flew back. Decision was made right after i checked the weather of the day— it was the coldest day in Zurich thus far (-8°C).

I survived.

photo

#18

This is the same evening. Really kenot tahan so i put on my Preggie Jacket.

photo

#19

Double picture to reward my bravery wtf.

AND THEN!!!!!!!!

On the last day, i packed all my luggages and wore the most comfortable clothes so i could be at ease on the plane. What i forgot was it was a night flight and we still had time to do some sight seeing. So we went to some Swiss Castle and i looked like if i squat down with a hat people will start dropping coins in fml.

This is how comfort looks like.

Thanks but no thanks. Never again.

Just how expensive is Zurich?

February 2, 2011

The objective of this blog entry is to ruin Switzerland’s tourism.

People have to be insanely rich to travel to Zurich. Or just insane. I mean, it is already stated  in the name of the city itself. Take a hint.

photo

This was our breakfast at a very very ordinary cafeteria inside a shopping mall just nao.

We didn’t look at the price and ordered a plate of salad and some pasta, an espresso for the Italian and OJ for me.

And when we paid it was a major FOL moment. I  successfully stopped myself from strangling the cashier. Or grabbing my food and run away. Then i also had to bandage my heart so it didn’t bleed to death wtf.

Anyway, our breakfast cost 49 Swiss Franc.

That is RM160.

I can eat Kobe beef back in KL. We really didn’t know how it came up to that, i tried to take a picture of the receipt as proof but i couldn’t find it.

T________________T

Did a quick research,  most of the recent survey still says Tokyo is the most expensive city in the world. According to one of the sources in 2010, 4 out of the 10 Most Expensive Cities in the World are from Japan (Tokyo, Nagoya, Yokohama, Kobe) wtf??? And Zurich is only ranked 10th.

If cost of living and property is taken into account then it may make sense, but i couldn’t seem to find a survey that is meant for tourism. But out of so many cities that i have traveled to, Zurich is by far, and very very far, the mostestestest expensivest one.

I didn’t realize it is that expensive. Normally i measure the general cost of traveling by the price of a bottled water. in Japan, bottled drinks cost aroud ¥150 (RM6). But none of the bottled water here in Zurich is less than 4 Swiss Franc. Normally a bottle of mineral water costs 5 Swiss Franc (RM17).

And water is not normally free in Zurich. You have to buy it. Although you can try your luck asking for tap water, which is Leitungswasser in Swiss. Have fun pronouncing it.

photo

This is inside a grocery shop. A few pieces of sushi (doesn’t even have any fish in it just some bloody pickles) is like RM65.

Seriously, i dunno how people live here in Zurich. Even if i become super duper rich i will think twice… no, think eight hunfred times before considering coming back again. Damn these Swiss people who have it easy when they travel to other countries T_T. Federico says they should have a rule that Swiss people must pay 4 times the price when they wine and dine in Malaysia lolol.

Anyway, returning back to RM soon tonight! Will Show My Malaysian Flag soon. Was glad for a moment that i will return to RM3.50 zhap fan soon enough but then u realize that it is CNY and only mamak is open T_____T.

Spending my Chor Yat on the plane fml.

Anyway, Happy Bunny Year 2011 and Fatt All Your Life!!!
