Tokyo Yakiniku

May 15, 2015

The danna and i probably crave Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) the most when we are not in Japan. Once a while we would splurge on some atas BBQ restaurants but we can’t afford to do that every month. T__T. The last time we paid four figure for a meal for 4. It’s just too ridiculoussssss.

Sooooo where can you eat Yakiniku without having to fork out a week’s budget on a few slices of wagyu?

You can try out Tokyo Yakiniku at Pandan Indah, Cheras!

Tokyo Yakiniku is a family-run Japanese Charcoal BBQ restaurant established since 2004. Wow so it has been over 10 years! It is formerly known as Yakiniku Restaurant, if you are wondering that it looks familiar. I have been there before too before they renamed and also relocated to a more spacious two-storey building. read more

Penang with Junya!

May 14, 2015

Picture heavy post!

Last week we had a family road trip (on a roll!) to Penang! The danna has never been to that part of the country so i decided to let him 见识见识 some of the yummiest noms in Malaysia!

Neither of us is a good driver so by the time we reached the Penang bridge we were all like zombies -_-.

And starving. First thing was to look for makan.

Champon was with us!!

Penang people really quite friendly with pets!! Nobody gave us death stares or anything when we brought him to outdoor eating places. Only got people said “Waaaa! ee eh kao jin jia ho mia!!” (Wow! Her dog has such a good life) HAHAHHAHA. read more

Family time in Malaysia

May 6, 2015

Every single update i do nowadays is a throwback post on Japan, so much that everyone asks me “when are you coming back to KL?” XD

And to be honest i haven’t been very fair to my own country… i mean, i haven’t even gone up to the twin towers or climb the tallest mountain in the country!! (Erm, have YOU???) But i have been to Tokyo Tower and Sky Tree and Mt Fuji. Many times.

Most of the time when i am in Malaysia i just stay home and look forward to my next trip to Japan XD. *cue slow head shakes in disapproval* read more

DIY Home tips!

May 5, 2015

This is our sketch book in the house.

We painted one side of the walls with a chalk-friendly paint over a magnetic paint, so now you can doodle on it any time like a blackboard and can also stick magnets on it!!! Pretty cool right?? We did this before Junya was born because we thought in the future he could have some fun doodling on the wall without us exploding with heartache lol.

Except that the last doodle was made on Junya’s fullmoon -____-. In a few months time i just wipe of “4” and replace with “5” and “month” to “year”, and i have a brand new message board -___-. read more

Mount Unzen, Nagasaki

April 28, 2015

This was on the third day of new year in Nagasaki.

We woke up early morning and had breakfast in Sukiya!

Given a choice we didn’t really want to have fast food after flying all the way to Nagasaki, but the thing about Oshougatsu is that it is also the only time all the good local restaurants close for business. It’s the time for family. Once in a year.

It is also Jiji’s only off days in a year.

So on the 3rd Jan 2015, we had a 3-generation overnight family trip to a hot spring in Nagasaki called Unzen. The Kanji is 雲仙. This would be the first time the danna spent a night together with his father in… decades. And also the first ever time Junya travelled with Jiji. read more

MizuCafe, Tokyo

April 24, 2015

To add on to the list of restaurants i have brought Junya to in Japan (read Part 1 and Part 2), i am writing about MIZUcafe in Harajuku, Tokyo, which is produced by Cleansui Japan.

I have blogged about Cleansui before, which is a water filter series by Mitsubishi Rayon Japan i got for my house.

Anyway i heard that they had a concept cafe in Tokyo, so during our December trip we paid a visit to the cafe.

It’s located at Jingumae, 6-34-14, Harajuku, if you want to know the location! It’s quite near the Lotte building if you are familiar with Harajuku. Not hard to find! read more

Nagasaki with Junya (II)

April 22, 2015

This was on 2nd January, 2015, Nagasaki.

I have never ever thought that there would be someone reading my blog in Nagasaki. But there was.

When i posted pictures of my journey on Instagram, a follower, Agnes left me a comment and invited me to drop by the little patisserie she was working at.

And we did. It was just within walking distance from our hotel.

The shop is called “Little Angels”, and is owned by a French lady who has been staying Nagasaki for a long time.

The patisserie is a lovely pastel pink from outside in. And i heard from the locals that this is a pretty popular shop in Nagasaki city! read more

April 2015 coordinate

April 20, 2015

Here are some of my recent OOTDs!

Lately there are a lot of obsessions that define my styles for the past few months. The danna influenced me so much that sometimes half his wardrobe became mine lololol. Here are some of my heavy-rotation fashion must-haves!

1. Sneakers

Coordinate 1

The only thing i keep buying and buying is sneakers. I used to own zero pair. My shoe cabinet was full of five and a half inch heels that i couldn’t even wear for more than 10 seconds. I used to feel inferior about my height (i am 158cm) so i would never be seen dead in a pair of flats. I didn’t like to be the short one in photos. T_T. I was like that even during my late pregnancy, read more

Dot Free

April 18, 2015

Today i’m introducing another skincare product series from Japan!

You may have seen these in the beauty stores in Japan, i remember them because the spokes person for the product is a super cute baby hehe.

The name is called “Dot Free”. I guess it’s quite direct lah, meaning for you to achieve baby-like flawless skin where not even a dot can be spotted.

My latest addition in the bathroom!

There are two Dot Free series. The first one is Dot free White.

Nagasaki with Junya (I)

April 14, 2015

This was back on 1st January 2015, when Junya was 6 month old.

The first of January marks the first day of Oshougatsu (Japanese new year), and this year we decided to spend our new year with family in Nagasaki. ❤︎

Haneda airport!

Whose baby is that???

Entertaining the baby.

😛

Rainbow crane photo frame!

Our first meal of the year at a soba shop. Usually people eat soba on new year eve, but we only had instant soba the night before lolol so today was revenge day XD

This white thing is Sasakama, a type of kamaboko (fish cake). read more

Number76 Publika

April 8, 2015

A new addition to Number76‘s family!

This time around, it is at the much requested popular retail destination, Publika.

If Number76 Bangsar 1 is a cozy retro beach house, Number76 Bangsar 2 is a rustic, old-time street cafe, Number76 Starhill Gallery is a luxurious pampering parlour, and Number76 Mid Valley is a basement secret society, then now we have a little secret garden library.

It’s just so fun to see each branch living a different concept sending out different vibes. If i visit Number76 Starhill Gallery i make sure i don’t dress up too shabbily. I’ll probably get a fabulous hair up-do and then go for a Tai-Tai hi-tea. 😀 If i come to Number76 Publika, i want to feel super refreshed. Maybe i’ll go for organic color and Sparkling hair wash then off to Ben’s B.I.G to buy Japanese ichigo lolol. read more

SK-II Change Destiny

April 7, 2015

One of the biggest mysteries in my life is that i think that my skin now is most definitely much, much better than 5 years ago. Dare i even say that it is better than my teenage years.

True enough, these days we have camera on beauty mode, endless filter apps, etc. But when i woke up and look into the mirror, i actually like what i see and i want this to be the start of a happy day ahead.

How come??

I guess 90% is because i have gotten so much more relaxed and so much less stressed out. The change of mentality. The other 10% is lifestyle change and taking proper care. I sleep earlier, put on lighter make up, home-cook more, and of course keeping a skin care routine every day. read more
