Junya’s Fullmoon Party

July 26, 2014

A little late but here it is, tons of pictures!

So Junya turned 1 month on 11 July!!

Which is, coincidentally, his dad’s birthday as well. Anyway i am totally not a party sort of person (thanks to my major socially awkward character, and also because i am sooooo bad at planning parties, and also mostly because i don’t even have enough friends to have a proper event lolol), and this is probably the first ever time i initiated to hold something akin that of a party, because one bird two stones la (eh wait. i mean one stone two birds) and i felt a little bad i didn’t do anything for the danna this birthday (although i just could just chuck my son at him and say nah! Happy Birthday and this is your present lolol). read more

One day as a mom

July 10, 2014

With a newborn.

Alone.

So my mom had to go back to hometown earlier than scheduled due to family emergency on my day28 postpartum.

When she told me about it, i was like oh okay sure!Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 3.49.49 PMScreen Shot 2014-07-09 at 3.50.00 PM

But my heart turned blue and was like

Anyway, that marked the end of my Baby Holiday™. And ironically, that was also the start of my confinement, because i literally cannot step out of the house (not that i have the confidence yet anyway) and am grounded with the baby.

A few friends thought that i was crazy enough not to start finding or hire a maid/confinement lady/baby sitter when i was pregnant. Also they predict that if i wasn’t already crazy, i will soon be. Point taken. read more

Baby Holiday♡

June 26, 2014

So there’s no escape. I have officially turned into one of those people whose Instagram is full of their own baby’s pictures. Booooo.

As i was posting away (baby pictures, occasionally my own selfies in case nobody knows how i look like anymore), i keep getting comments asking (especially in Chinese): “不用坐月子吗?” (Don’t you need to do confinement?).

By no mean were they rude or anything, i’m sure they were just asking out of curiosity. But i am equally curious! Commenter Yvonnetham was absolutely right: What do they mean by “坐月子” (do confinement)?? How do they know i am not doing it? I mean how do they judge from a few Instagram selfies that i am not under confinement? read more

Baby’s name

June 24, 2014

We found out the baby’s gender by accident.

I had a bladder infection during my 16th week of pregnancy and got admitted to the hospital. My obgyn gave me an ultrasound check to make sure baby was alright. In the middle of the scan she was like

“There you go, look at the kuku, so clear! It’s a boy!”

I looked at her in utter  shock, and she was like, “you did want to know the sex of your baby, right?”

I did, but i was also overconfidently sure that i was having a girl. So sure that the word “kuku” has not ever even crossed my mind wtf. I just knew i would have a girl. I would name her Lisa (in one of my pregnancy dreams, there was two little girls, who appeared to be my daughters, and the younger one called her sister Lisa. So Lisa it was). read more

My baby

June 16, 2014

I don’t even know how i should start this post.

As i have updated on Instagram and other social media, i delivered a healthy baby boy on 11 June 2014.

Everything went really well and i was recovering good so i was discharged from the hospital the second day and came home with my baby.

It is the 6th day i am living my life with a new little human in my house, and every aspect of it is as surreal as i ever imagined it to be. But at the same time i am amazed at how we quickly adapted to having each other in our lives. read more

The perfect confinement

June 9, 2014

I know some of you who are reading this are not from Malaysia (or Singapore, or of Chinese origin), so do you know that after you give birth, there’s this thing called “confinement” you have to practice? In chinese it is called 坐月子.

And up until i got pregnant, i always thought confinement is one of the worst things a woman have to go through in life, because when i was a child i witnessed how my aunt went through it, she was practically a sweaty, smelly, zombie, in jail. And that’s when i decided i will never ever get pregnant when i grow up. (Obviously changed my mind haha.) read more

Baby’s Room

May 30, 2014

It’s been a long way and after so many months of taking care of myself, it was finally time we prepared for the Arrival Day : setting up the Baby’s Room.

I am officially in my full term pregnancy now, which also means the baby is going to give us a surprise any day any time now!

37 weeks.

We are totally not the crazy baby shopping type who spend 3 hours in Toy’R’us at 3 month pregnant. :X

The danna has this “you never know what you don’t need until you bought them” approach when it comes to baby lol. He suggested buying just one kimono wrap for the baby which he can wear until 5 years old wtf. And for me i was just too relaxed to bother about checking off the baby shopping list. read more
