I’ve heard enthusiastic recommendations from my longest friend Ichigo about Clinique. She hearts Clinique’s moisturizer and eye cream to the max.
So when i got an invitation by Nic to Clinique’s New Clinique Experience at their 1st stand-alone store in Pavilion KL, i went for it without any hesitation! It’s the first stand-lone store in South East Asia.
It looks very comprehensive and classy!
There’s a new additional dermatological technology used in the new store–Clinique Diagnostic Mirror.
Karen the Retail Manager herself attended to me! 😀
First of all the friendly lady gave me a skin analysis using the Diagnostic Mirror. That special mirror allows her to better see the client’s skin concern through a magnified side whilst the client sees her reflection as she would in a normal mirror, allowing simultaneous 2-way communication.
Nah. See, got blackhead here!
And in turn, Karen let me know where my skin concerns are. Apparently i have rather sensitive skin and really dry skin. But slightly oily on the T-zone (isn’t that every girl’s problem?). Most likely caused by hectic lifestyle and stress (isn’t that also every girl’s problem?).
And then she recommended Clinique’s latest products–Clinique Superdefense
She explained that everyone experiences psychological stress on one level or another and it has long been known that stress can impact skin’s immune system and disrupt its barrier function.
Karen recommended the 3-Step Skin Care system as a daily basic regimen. Basically cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize, to achieve the best effects. Then she helped me cleanse my face, put on the clarifying lotion for daily mild exfoliation, and lastly the NEW Superdefense SPF 25/PA+++ Age Defense Moisturizer, which is exactly what i needed–Clinique’s most advanced age prevention daily moisturizer. In Clinique it is all about custom-fitting. You get exactly what you need. 🙂
The newly improved moisturizer comes with special added benefits.
Old one on the left and new on the right
The new moisturizer has an added Red Microalgae Extract, a patented “stress-neutralizing” sea extract which helps skin neutralize responses that surface as lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Whatever it is, sounds good to me!
There are a lot of things i like about Clinique. First of all of course it’s friend’s recommendation. Secondly Clinique is one of the very few skin care products i can use because i have extremely sensitive skin. And Clinique is allergy tested and 100% fragrance free. Hey, I didn’t know all Clinique products have to undergo a total of 7,200 testing before its being marketed! I was really surprised when Karen told me Clinique tests 12 times on 600 different consumers and IF there’s any allergic reaction at all at any ONE time, they would not launch the product. That’s how big the number ONE means to them and now we all know how safe the products really are! 🙂
Thirdly, i really like the texture of the moisturizer! It is not oily, and i love the fact that it comes with SPF 25/PA+++ so itis a moisturizer + sunblock all in one! I don’t need to slab layers of cream onto my face every morning. 🙂
It’s available in 3 types of formulas to suit different skin conditions. The Very Dry to Dry formula is a luxurious cream that instantly sinks into skin for immediate comfort with cushioned application. The Dry Combination formula is a soft cream that absorbs nicely leaving skin moist, hydrated and protected. The Combination Oily to Oily formula is an ultra-lightweight cream that offers refreshing hydration and a light, comfortable feel.
Karen said that The Dry Combination formula is suitable for my skin.
I had an absolutely fantastic experience in Clinique Pavilion. After the skin consultation, Alex the Clinique Beauty Expert gave me a makeover!
Applying eyeshadow for Day Makeup.
Day Look.
Proceed to Evening Makeup ny just adding darker eyeshadow and glossy lips.
DONE!!
Clinique’s people are sooo friendly!
Alex
Karen
And of course
My bottle of Clinique Superdefense moisturizer. I also ended up buying so many things. T_T. I mean :D. Clinique cleansing balm, All About Eyes cream (I listen to my best friends), and a blusher in Giddy Pink! God, shopping is evil!
Am using the products now religiously for the next couple of weeks. Will see how it goes! 🙂
I had a very bad experience with Clinique, they assured that I can use their cosmetics as I have a sensitive skin, and when I bought 2 tubes of the gloss and a blusher, my face were irritated and I had rashes all over the area that I applied the blusher, and not to mention the gloss made my lips swollen too =(
OMG!!!! Alex! i worked with him before.. he’s very VERY good in special effect make-up!haven’t seen him for so long!! he’s very sweet right? now i know where to find him! LOL!

diagnostic mirror? I thought those things are called ugly mirrors!
LOL @ KY. I wanna see how good (or bad, probably the latter) I look in the super magnifier X-ray vision mirror too.
i also have sensitive skin im using clinique too. but never try the make up products. i prefer to use mac or bobbi brown for make up 🙂
you look cute with/without make up!
Penny: Hie, sorry to hear about your experienced. i’ve been using both the skin care and cosmetic, no prob at all. did you go back to them?

Clinique used to be one of my fav brand…very nostalgic lol….
did they offer u a discount? i haven’t bought any cosmetics in years other than lipsticks.
That yerrow millor thing is a bit scary :E
hi… can i noe u bought that for how much?
Ella: the superdefense? It’s RM180.
my mom has been using clinique like..for ever! and she got me hooked…just started using this and i’m loving it!
i feel like there’s no difference using clinique and any other brand. i bought travel size clinique products but did not even finish using them because i couldn’t see my skin was getting better. In fact I find that the toner is very drying to my skin! And I was worried about the burning sensation when I apply it on my face. :S
Sorry don’t mean to offend you cheesie. It’s Clinique I have a grudge against. 😛 Please let us know if you really think it’s good after using it for a few weeks ok?
Cheesie! I was in Pavilion today how come I didn’t see you!!
Alah if not I wanna go ask for autograph already LOLOLOLLLLLLLLLL
no different before and after makeover.
look nothing special at all
glad u had a great experience in clinique…mine was completely the opposite! the staffs were not that friendly…and I was robbed of the free sample promised! wtf.. but then again, I’m not someone famous like you cheesie… besides the products give me allergic reaction… 🙁
it would be better for you if the makeover include the mole removal offer too !!
warau, barrage of ads recently eh. Cheesie the busy bee. 😀
Owh. I use clinique as well, their toner. 🙂
Well my skin sort of got used to the toner and it does not work miricles like it used to when I just started using it. The superdefense looks quite good I must go have a look! and, I ran out of all-about-eyes cream. I used that before it somewhat worked miricles but I have to sleep earlier to get it working at its best. Good choice!
Cheesie,
You made a good choice using Clinique products. They are truly kind to all types of skin. My asian wife and I have been using Clinique for years. Think dry skin is a problmen in a tropical nation, think how drying winter can be like is here in North America. We live in Michigan, a State that spans Latitude: 41° 41′ N to 48° 15′ N, that is more than half way to the north pole. Winter gets very cold here with temps below 0C for weeks at a time, the air gets very dry, and unprotcted skin can suffer.
BTW, you do look very pretty without makeup, Clinique products enhanced your beautiful asian glow! 😉
i agree with the one who said you look no different before and after makeover.
you’re just as pretty without makeup! =)
you dont even have a full-time job do you? psychological stress? hectic yes, probably, from having fun.
full time job? smart ppl wouldn’t sell themselves into indentured servitude :))
why should she need a full time job while she can easily make a decent income online?
if you are able to work from home have more free time and more money…wouldn’t you do the same?
eve, my point is that ringo has very clear skin, at least from what she shows us on this blog. this is in some way due to her lack of a full-time job, hence she goes by daily without being exposed to the stress-inducing factors most other people are.
and again, my point is that the manageress probably says the same thing to all her customers, ie. that their skin is so and so due to the stressful and hectic lifestyle you lead. this automatically becomes a selling point, and gives the customer more reason to buy her products, whether its because of shame (for having ‘bad’ skin, apparently) or just itchy hands to spend money or any other reason.
any reader of this blog that is immune to the cult of celebrity will quite readily say that ringo has a pretty unstressful life, again, this is based on what she shows us on her blog.
on another note, i dont know how much ringo makes from blogging but i doubt it’ll be enough to sustain her till she’s riped and old. and note that global inflation hit its decade high recently. sure there is always ‘the man’ to support her if she gets married but i for one like to think that its always good for a woman/wife to have financial independence. and blogging will also lose its appeal one day, like how friday night discos and ABBA have lost theirs.
Hi Cheesie,
It’s actually not long ago I tried their eye cream and the scrub. I guess I should go back to them and consult further, maybe the girl is not experienced enough
i’ve seen some demo on the branded skincare n cosmetic yrs ago, and clinique was one of those.
the pH test on the facial bar showed that it’s very alkalic (above pH9 i thk), which the result is similar to the Fab Buku (soap bar for washing clothes, imagine u use that on ur skin!), that’s why u feel very clean after using the facial bar, but at the same time it also take away the moisture from ur skin which make ur skin dry; for the toner, the alcohol content is quite high, which make it’s flammable, it actually lighted up a fire!!
i’ve seen these with my own eyes, or belif it or not, up2u..
Sis is using their products now 🙂
Hi cheesie,
I’ve been using their 3-steps regimen skin care for 2 days now, and i noticed i break out around my cheek area. I never had any break out like this before and never had break out around my cheek area. Im having 2nd thought on their products now. Not sure if its for Asian skin. 🙁 Dont think im gonna continue using it again. Please do reviews on them ok? Thank you.
Had a bad experience at clinique pavillion last week.. Staff inside are snobish and arrogant. Probably, they only look at rich customers.. cos they think only rich customers are qualified to patron pavillion……
I want to try it
Hey Cheesie,
Haven’t got a chance to thank you for spending the afternoon to do your makeup. It was great fun 🙂
I am no longer with Clinique. Out on my own now and am running workshops. If you have a group of friends interested in an afternoon of pampering and learning more, please contact me at tan.alex@pobox.com or call me at 012-252 0749, if not, keep in touch and catch up for a coffee 🙂
