Before you freak out, this post is not about me losing weight la i didn’t have much in the beginning to lose with, but since a lot of people always ask me advise on how to maintain a slim figure, i thought i could use a blog post!
Anyway, my answer to that is forever “Go to Japan.”
I hardly know anyone who gain weight in Japan. Really hardly. Did you? Normally i lose about 1-2KG every time i go to Japan, and gain it back after i come back.
WHY???
By the way these are the kind of food i eat:
Actually the answer is really simple. And it applies to dieting and losing weight in general. No matter how many new diet methods there is out in the market, the one forever truth is, you lose weight when you burn more calories than you take in.
That is the diamond rule that applies to everybody, no matter what race, what blood type, what age…
So i found out that, while i actually eat MORE in Japan, i’m actually taking in less calories because their food is just so freaking healthy, every single pack of snacks comes with a calorie counter for you to monitor your diet.
Basically almost everything in a convenience store is pro-diet wtf.
And then i also walk a lot. Like, A LOT.
For someone who never ever exercises, that’s A LOT of exercise lol.
So when i think about it, it makes all sense that i will lose weight in Japan.
This was how i looked at one point when i stayed in Japan quite often.
And that was my weight.
I know that’s almost borderline grotesque, (and no i’m not advocating anorexia, y’all, i know what you are thinking.) but don’t worry! I have gained it all back now.
Point is! If you are looking for a diet that doesn’t come with side effects you didn’t know about, or laosai until your intestines melt, the only two answers are:
Exercise, and cut down on your calories.
Simple enough?
Of course not. First of all exercise is totally out of the questions, and how to monitor calories? This is not Japan leh.
Which is why, as boring as it sounds, a healthy meal replacement is still the best answer for lazy people.
And today’s product is ITOH Fasting Diet Basic (i’m sorry it doesn’t come with a more fancy name lol)
(And it’s 100% from Japan! Yay!)
It is a very very simple product, basically a meal replacement that helps you control your calorie intake while providing you all the necessary nutrients a human needs daily.
You might think that since we should cut calories intake in order to lose weight, might as well just skip the meal completely?
By skipping breakfast you may be sabotaging your weight loss goals, because it makes you hungrier and more prone to binging and snacking on unhealthy stuff later, or worse it might cause gastric.
Also, when you skip a meal you are depriving your body of essential vitamins and nutrients!
I dunno why it is called “fasting”, because there isn’t fasting involved, if you worry 😛
(Maybe they mean it’s very fast, you know la Japanese’s English HAHAHHAH no la joke, JOKE.)
The good news is, unlike other meal replacements that has only one single flavor, it comes in FIVE!
Vanilla, Banana, Strawberry, Chocolate, and Latte.
And the calorie and nutrient chart for each flavor.
Here’s the English version:
My favorite is Strawberry!
Now even though i don’t need to lose any more weight, i still take it because it just a super convenient and healthy breakfast, albeit a bit more expensive than Maggie goreng or nasi lemak.
The calorie count is only 85kcal per packet (comes up to about 200+ if you mix it with milk), so compared to your mamak breakfast, you are cutting down easily a few hundred kcals a day.
And i always take it with one banana, some biscuits and that makes a quick and wholesome breakfast!
HOW TO:
Pour the powder in a cup, mix it with milk, and stir well! Of course you can also use a shaker.
It taste just like milkshake and really does fill up your tummy!
You can replace it with anyone of your regular meals, and for a start it is recommended that you replace the lightest meal of the day. For example if you eat the least in the morning, then take it as breakfast.
Once you get used to it, you can use it to replace your lunch or dinner instead. And for those who wish for better effect, you can replace two meals a day. But please do take at least one proper meal a day.
Some of the key ingredients in this product that effectively help your diet:
1. Psyllium powdered seeds 3,000mg
A great source of natural, water soluble fiber that helps to moderate cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
2. Indigestible dextrin 1000mg
A dietary fiber that helps regulate blood sugar level
3. Y-aminobutyric acid
An amino acid that helps suppress blood sugar pressure elevation and support your healthy diet
4. A good balancing of 12 types of vitamins and 11 types of minerals that provide 1/3 of the daily nutritional standard values (in one pack).
You can get it in for RM148 per box, from all SASA outlets (Malaysia) or get it online at Tokyoninki.com!
Yep! Calorie expenditure should always be more than intake to lose weight! Exercise will help you to burn more calories at rest than people who don’t exercise! 🙂
oh my Godd…how can u’re body thin like that.. i still thinking that photoshop but when i see u’re weight.. its no joke lah u have body like that… hahah… maybe i’ll give it a try hahaha..
Can people aged 10-13 consume this?
You are only 10-13???? Please don’t think about losing weight when you are still growing and hitting puberty! D:
i also thought the same thing when they meant “fasting” wtf
Ya lo, but I hardly ever move in Malaysia D:
Haha confusing
Haha but I gained quite a lot of weight recently
Even though this is a advertising post, happy for two blogposts in one day! 😀
You so sweet!!! Actually 3 post in 2 days hahaha
It’s difficult for me to keep track of calories so I always encourage people to lose weight by exercise, not by eating less.
I currently live in Japan and I gained some weight but I know why. I eat mainly at home because I can’t afford lots of food outside and the food I cook isn’t that healthy. And I ate a lot of chocolate =_= nI am currently doing just as you said, looking at the calories and exercising and I feel better already. nnI have one girl in class who only eats one time a day and only fruits. We all tried to tell her that this is not healthy because her body really needs the vitamins etc but she won’t listen. I hope we can get her to try another diet than hers. I’ll show her this post to show her that there are other ways.nnThanks for your post! <3
I gain up to 5 kilos when I’m in Japan. Talk about Calbee crisps. :))
Hahaha, my parents and their friends just got back from Japan from a week trip, all put on weight lor! eventhough they said they walked so so much. Food is too oishi!
those food are really tempting!
I just got back from Japan and I gained weight from eating convenience store food and ramen. We walked a lot and ate moderately (cuz didn’t want to overspend on food) but still gained weight! I’m thinking it is from the rice/noodles/carbs and fried stuff in most off their bentos and more affordable food…
Hey Cheesie…this has nothing to do with dieting but just wanted to share this with you since you love Japan. After watching it, maybe you could help the Japanese since you’re quite famous there already. Saving 10,000. Winning a War on Suicide in Japan. http://www.saving10000.com/nIt's sad reality and i hope that you can take a bit of time from your busy schedule to watch it. Thanks (This is not an advertorial) I just care about the Japanese people.
I assume I can use soy- or rice milk instead of regular milk, but is there any lactose in the powder?
I lost like 5kg after staying in Japan for summer holiday!
Hi Cheesie, I’m very interested with your camera that you showed in one of your pictures. May I know what is the brand and model?Would love to have the same one like yours 🙂
Am sorry but you are insulting the intelligence of your readers. This thing you are promoting is not going to benefit your followers into losing weight the healthy way. You will lead them into more starvation, while the proper way is to exercise. The thing is, you have a fast metabolism and you are more of an ectomorph body type, which helps you lose weight. So you never had to take this milkshakes.. or else, why haven’t we never seen a picture of this product on instagram? All we see is fatty, crispy and sugary foods, which I personally would never consume. Let alone losing weight consuming them. Come on Cheese, be more truthful to your readers! You have seen that your audience also consist of little girls of age 10!
I never said *i* used this product to lose weight. You need your eyes checked, or you should just stop reading blogs for your own good. And why would I need to prove I consume something by posting them on Instagram? If i dont post pictures of my feces means i never shit before? You are crazy.
Hi Chessie, I’m very interested in this product. May I know where can I get them in Tokyo? Can it be found in the drugstore or supermarket?
Hehe I actually know more people gaining weight in Japan because they have so many yummy snacks lol XD But I just came back a week ago and lost quite a lot (but then I’m bulimic/anorexic and I usually lose anywhere I travel because I walk a lot! so I guess I don’t count) But I admire the Japanese genuine love for their food, makes me strive to enjoy it like them 😀 I think a healthy and normal relationship with food beats any diet any day, and finding physical activities you thoroughly enjoy 🙂
hmm, I was trying to find out exactly how long would it takes before the results can be seen. For example, taking one per day = 0.5 kg in one month time,, two packets per day =1 kg in one month time.. And what happened when a person stopped consuming it after losing weight (e.g.: 1 kg), will there be a risk to gain 2 kgs instead (double what was lost) and have 3 meals a day back? Clearly this question is for tokyoninki, can’t find the explanation from the link you provided.
So true! I always lose weight when I travel to Asia coz of all the walking involved. Super nice; I have fun and lose weight at same time! More enjoyable than exercise in gym for sure 🙂
My colleague went toJapan for two months and lost 20kg just from allthe walking and healthy eatingand notover eating
Curious as to how tall you are.
May I ask what kind of camera that is? I love it! Also, we have similar meal replacement shakes here in Canda. I’m not much of a breakfast eater, but it helps with hunger all morning!
Haha looks yummy and healthy wonder where to get it especially tht strawberry flavour mind telling me where i could get it in singapore cheesie?
