I have been waiting for this for so long.

I know about Isetan’s upcoming project in KL – a brand new departmental store filled with Japanese high-end labels that range from fashion to interior in Kuala Lumpur. Have anyone of you been to Isetan Shinjuku, Tokyo?

If you have, you will probably realize that it is probably the most prestigious departmental store in the entire Tokyo, with the most amazing selection of merchandise and top-notch service. And part of this is gonna be available in KL soon. How exciting is that?!

And as a prelude to the upcoming full-fledge Isetan The Japan Store at Lot 10, the amazing Isetan team has put together a pop up store called Tokyo Fashion District, part 1 of the 3 pop-up installment.

Tokyo Fashion District

It was happening on Jan 29 till Feb 7, just before CNY, at APW Bangsar.

What an honor to be there to witness first hand some of the high-end Japanese labels you will not be able to lay your hand on anywhere else in Malaysia.

Asked Chanwon along since she’s also a big fan of Japanese fashion.

A little F&B corner + drink bar at the entrance, serving the nostalgic Lamune soda in different funky flavors.

There are also different mineral water brands, some so luxurious and exclusive that it is said to be particularly great for the beauty of women and babies. See, Isetan it’s all about quality!

The F&B corner also features Can Tsuma, a premium canned cuisine that goes perfectly with beer.

And now… the labels!

mastermind JAPAN

Probably everyone’s most familiar luxurious street style brand, featuring many of their prominent basic tees.

Yoshio Kubo

Returning from New York, Yoshio Kubo started his own haute couture menswear with dramatic patterns and stunning designs. Lots of unmistakable signature motifs and color play in this collection!

mame

mame is my favorite from the bunch. One of the signatures is their beautifully stitched PVC clutches that’s so elegant yet edgy. Don’t forget to check out their feminine statement pieces that are a perfect add for any fashionista’s wardrobe.

PORTER

The danna and i love Porter. It is down to earth, but so, so, so practical and durable. Champon’s first pet accessories were all from Porter because well, it has to withstand whatever mischief for a rough Shiba like him.

Other than classic monotone and signature black, they do have a range of chic canvas totes in different colors! I love this one in orange.

mastermind JAPAN X PORTER

Both labels are big on collaborations, and well, here’s one big partnership.

In conjunction with Porter’s 80th anniversary, this collaboration features the mastermind JAPAN’s skull motif in various guises, mostly subtle which makes it even more iconically desirable.

TOGA PULLA

This award winning brand combines elements of contemporary Western style with traditional Japanese design to create uniquely striking pieces.

ICHIRO

Lots of beautifully crafted  furniture pieces for your home.

MUVEIL

MUVEIL is known for its quirky, avant-garde and playful aestheticas, blending lively prints with youth-centric whimsical details.

A fashion show took place to showcase the different collections at the pop up store.

There were also English-speaking nadeshiko (Japanese fashion stylists) helping the guests with picking out the best outfit.

Other fashion brands that are also featured on that day include:

AKANE UTSUNOMIYA
TARO HORIUCHI
UNDERCOVER
kolor
and wander

I went back again few days later after the launch with the danna and Junya so that we don’t have to beat the crowd.

hello!

Finally get to have a beer – Suntory ALL-FREE, pregnant women’s solution lol.

Also the danna bought lotsssssss of CAN TSUMA (this is not even all, we have eaten up quite a bit lol) because he was gonna go to Singapore on his own so there wasn’t a wife to cook for him, and CAN TSUMA was his best friend every night after work XD.

So simple, so satisfying.

Anyway, for those of you who have missed out Tokyo Fashion District, fret not! The second pop-up store will be coming in March. Will keep you guys updated!!
