IT IS THIS BLOODY THING CALLED DUFFY!
Every single human being in Disney Sea was carrying one. At first i was like, hey why is Disney Sea infested with this ugly bear thing? Is this a free gift? How come everyone has one! WHERE CAN I GET IT!
Then after that i thought it was some lousy prize you win when you play games. (There’s this game station in Arabian Coast, when you win you get an original Arabian Stitch soft toy. When you lose you get some lousy pins. I played twice and i got two lousy pins. FML).
After that, more ugly bear passed us by, all in different sizes and even outfits. TK and i cannot tahan liao, so we decided to find out what turf is going on.
We asked a Disney staff.
She said, “Oh no, it’s not given out. You have to buy it. Yea it’s really popular nao! Everyone wants to have one”
What turf. Why everyone wants the ugly bear! I haven’t heard or seen anything about it one why!!! Which cartoon/animation!!! Cheat One™
Curiosity got the better of us. And that’s how we fell into the whole Duffy spell. (Note that’s how Disney cheat people. I must learn from them and improve my Cheat One™ skill. )
We went to the Duffy store.
And GUESS WHAT!

IT IS INFESTED WITH DUFFY-POISONED HUMANS.
And there was a long queue outside the store.
YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO QUEUE UP JUST TO HAVE A LOOK AT THE UGLY BEAR!
WTF is wrong with you people!!!!!!
And to my utter disbelief, TK and i ACTUALLY bothered to go into the shop. (Ok la, in my defense, we went to the toilet and when we came out the queue disappeared so i said, ok la, why not we just pop in and see what’s so interesting. FML)

This supposedly “ugly” thing, by my (previous) standard, has a story behind it.

In short, Duffy is a bear Minnie hand-made herself to give to Mickey when he has to go sailing for a long long time (oh i didn’t know they are doing LDR, FTL), so that Mickey will not be lonely when he is away.
Okay.

I actually awwwed at the story.
(And i’m ashamed to say, i almost cried).
(You know how LDRs are like!!!!!!!!!)
And suddenly, (i must bold on the word suddenly), Duffy is like the cutest thing in the world.
Why did i even think it is ugly?
WTF IS WRONG WITH ME!!!!
Everyone in the shop was panicking and in a hurry and all, because some of the merchandise were running out of stock. The staff were running around carrying boxes of the brown fluffy thingie and refilling the shelves.

(I look horrible cuz i had been walking for 14 hours straight non-stop in Sea and couldn’t be bothered o touch up make up)
And this is my FAV Duffy. It’s like 2,600 Yen.

I thought and thought and thought, in the end i left the store empty handed and bewildered.
I didn’t buy it because it is too stupidly expensive. And i was so amazed at how Disney manages to cheat us gullible human again and again and again by just coming out with something fluffy and a short cheesy story.

The Disney people are masters of marketing. They turned you from disliking Duffy to buying into the story and purchasing a Duffy.
Perhaps your can adopt some Disney marketing techniques for you blog. Clever use of cuteness and heartwarming stories mixed with your travel adventures and unique perspectives on the world and life, and just perhaps your holiyear will continue from increased amounts of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

When I went to Hong Kong, there was a Disney shop in the airport after I went into the Departure Hall which sells stuffs from Disneyland for people who didn’t go to Disneyland. Was there no Disney shop at Narita Airport? If not you could have gotten your Duffy bear there. The second Duffy bear photo with you looks so cute, it looks so blissful with you hugging it T__T
