Pun of the day:
Someone told me HK had some eggcellent tarts.

A little preview of where i’ve been to in Hong Kong.

So i went for the egg tarts lo.

Some Hong Kong people can be quite rude.

There’s this famous coffee shop in Central (which i traveled alllllllll the way from Kowloon then back to Mongkok just for my brunch), which allegedly serves the best egg tart in Hong Kong.

Then there was this waiter in the shop!!!

Me: I wanna have an egg tart please.
Him: Come back tomorrow earlier!
Me: Huh?!
Him:: Finish already!
Me: Erm.. so fast?
Him: You are not local are you? Never do local people come in at 1pm and ask for egg tart.
Me: Oh. I’m from Malaysia. So, if i want to eat one, what time should i come?
Him: 9am la.
Me: ……

Okay, so he’s rude. And he kept trying to chat me up while i was eating! He asked if Malaysia’s 烧腊 (siu lap? Roast, uhm.. meat?!) is better than HK’s. Then asked if i’ve been to Disneyland. Then tried to “accidentally” brush against my shoulder when he served my teh ais with full force onto the table (like how an angry bartender slam a beer onto the table in the movie, with the foam splashing out, you know, i guess it’s a tradition. -_-). Then asked where i bought my necklace, because he thought that it looked like some cult symbolism crap but “it’s actually quite pretty“, while staring into my low-cut corset!!!

Cult necklace.

But at least he’s a 真小人 instead of a hypocrite who sweet talks and takes advantage of you when you’re most vulnerable. That makes him less a nuisance. In fact, i actually find him amusing because that’s what he truly is, and he doesn’t hide that crass nature of his by pretending to be a gentleman.

Do not judge a cheese by its wrapper!

Okay enough nonsense.

Speaking of 烧腊, whoa i tell you. i ate it for almost every meal. OMG sien.

But yes, they generally taste better than the ones in KL.

BUT!

The so-good-can-cry roast goose i’ve ever eaten is….

Cheng cheng cheng cheng!

null
From Yung Kee restaurant at Lan Kwai Fong.

null
Most expensive quarter roast goose ever.

It’s not exaggerated to say that one drop of tear almost rolled out from the corner of my left eye (my head tends to tilt slightly to the left side when my palates analyze tantalizing molecules so yea the tear came out easier from the left) when i took a bite into that juicy fat goose thigh.

Everything was ekkkkkkkkkkkkkkusipensiiiiiiiive.

T_T

But the most memorable dish had to be this.

null
One of the greatest Chinese dishes of humankind, but also served as a horror-inducing dish in Fear Factor. (And those self-proclaimed brave contestants actually choose buffalo’s testicles over century egg!!!666) WHAT WERE THOSE PEOPLE THINKING?!? IS THAT A JOKE???

null
I think it kinda looks like the big-eyed gold fish 😀 (Please pardon my bad drawing again.)

null

Porkie said it looks like his fish Momo.

null

Wahaha.

null
Man, this egg deserves a whole entry of praising (with angels singing in chord and cherubs playing harps).

Then the bill came.

What i can say. Food in Hong Kong is reeeeeeeeally expensive.

T_T

Whoa there’s so much more to blog about HK.

You all stay cheesed la.

P/S: Ma, i didn’t tapao so-good-can-cry roast goose because you don’t eat goose. I didn’t tapao century egg because it’s not so good for health la. i didn’t tapao egg tart because i cannot wake up at 9am and i didn’t want you to settle for the second best. So yea. Sowee. 🙁
