47 PREFECTURES
How much do you know Japan?

Quick filler post while I prepare for our family spring trip back to Japan.
My… yearly coordinate post😂. First and maybe last of 2018 😂. It is really because the danna was helping out every day with the kids, cooking and housework in the apartment that I get to play dress up… a little. People who think that I look like this every can’t be more wrong 😂. I usually go pick cheesiepetits up from school in Singapore in my pajamas hahaha.
Early March I spent 1 week in Japan on VisitJapan‘s influencer program. They have selected influencers from all over the world to visit different parts of Japan.
I was originally supposed to be on the Kansai trip but I couldn’t make it for that week so the organizer assigned me to Chubu & Hokuriku area instead. And I was soooooo happy and thankful because that was one of the regions left in my yet-to-visit #47PrefectureMission. By the end of that trip, I have visited 5 new prefectures, and now I have checked off a total of 36 prefectures, leaving only 11!!!
Last summer in August 2017.
A new prefecture conquered – Aomori, 青森 in Kanji, which means “green forest”.
I don’t know why but there’s something mysteriously romantic about the name Aomori, maybe because of the image of deep, mystical wildwoods, maybe I have remembered the mesmerizing photos I have seen of Aomori in the past… But it has always been very high on my visit list!
We took the Hayabusa Shinkansen to Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture. The ride took only around 2 hours 45 minutes!
Junya turns 45 months today and Sakura is 22 months old!
This post was written in advance because I was away last week traveling and wasn’t able to update.
While I am busy discovering more #lazymama hacks, it is worth noting that it requires skill and effort to be “lazy”, as you keep yourself updated with new technology and innovations, which eventually sets you free from spending too much time to fuss over unnecessary things.
For skin care, I choose to go fuss-free too.
So everyone comes to Japan for cherry blossom viewing during spring seasons. Summer seems to be a less popular period when it comes to getting in touch with the nature, especially under intense heat.
But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t come to Japan during summer time!! (<start of brainwashing session> lolol) If you happen to visit Japan in the sunny season, other than Hanabi Taikai (fireworks shows), Natsumatsuri (summer fest), beach and sea, you may also want to go sunflower viewing!
This was last July 😳.
Although not a popular tourist area, if you have been to Tokyo, you have most probably been to Chiba before.
Narita airport is in Chiba. So is Tokyo Disneyland and Disneysea. Other attractions worth visiting include Inzai Moff Animal World and Mother Farm.
This time around we visited Kamogawa in Chiba. What’s fun to do there? Honestly, probably nothing much, haha. But the danna wanted to surf, and Chiba has some of the best surf spots nearest to Tokyo.
Junya turns 44 months today and Sakura is 21 months old!
I can’t believe it has been a month! I just realized on the 10th of Feb and I thought damn, I hadn’t noted down anything in the past month. So it’s probably gonna be a short one this month.😳
When I wrote the last blog post of 2017, I did ponder a lot about what my 2018 new year resolutions would be. It turned out that most of them are the same as the previous years – that I want to cook better, maintain a healthier lifestyle, travel Japan more… etc. Mostly family-related. Basically I want to be a better mom and wife and myself!!
And then I thought, what about work? What about this blog? Does it still matter in my life? Yes I want to make effort to keep it alive, but what’s the future? … bleak. So bleak I want to offer it a blanket, some pizza and a hug.
Onomichi is another coastal town that is quaint with an old-fashioned atmosphere, but more modern than Tomonoura. It is home to a lot of creative projects so one can expect lots of insiration to be found throughout the city.
In 2015, Onomichi had a mini famous-moment with Hiroshima Tourism Board’s Google Street View project that’s mapped from a cat’s perspective. You can see the world through a cat’s eyes and explore restaurants and shops in the area.
Do you know that the humble kitchen towels in your home is actually a lot more useful that you thought, other than cleaning up the mess in the kitchen?
A while ago I posted a video on IG about cutting a block of butter with kitchen towel so that you get to slice your butter effortlessly without the butter sticking to your knife, and the best part is that the knife won’t get greasy either!! I love this hack so much because as a #lazymama #busymama, you want to save as much time and trouble as you can.
