ABOUT CHEESIE
Still blogging after 16 years
I LOVE JAPAN
Why do I love Japan so much?
47 PREFECTURES
How much do you know Japan?
as you have read on twitter wtf.
That’s all for today’s blog post wtf.
Now i need to find out how to get married wtf.
Sorry i mean “we”.
00:00 The actually day of Tokyo Girls Collection. There has been a long queue 5 hours before starting time (!!)
0:40 Cheesie and Shiori went to model’s changing room to meet their respective models. Shiori’s model is a new comer model Matuyama Aya, while Cheesie’s model is Korean model HENA.
1:36 The other three representative (who got eliminated) also came to support in their best outfit.
2:50 There are 19 top fashion brands and a total of 99 models participating in this season’s TGC, which team is Sherbet garden. (They show Hasegawa Jun and Fujii Lena omg)
3:13 Cheesie and Shiori doing a final check on their models. At 4:30 PM, the final challenge for Cheesie and Shiori finally started.
4:00 HENA who is wearing A coordinate (Cheesie’s) walks on stage. (OMG they were playing my fav Capsule’s new long as background music i am too happy). The theme is feminine girly and the special part of the outfit is the sexy back part. Aya wears coordinate B (Shiori’s) and the point of this outfit is the natural feel and a big bag that makes you wanna go out and have fun.
5:20 Voting starts 5PM sharp. Live audience would vote for their favorite outfit using their cell phones.
6:00 Amandine, Usagi Pyon and Woyuki all prefers coordinate A. There it shows interview of random girls at the event voting for their preferred outfit. One of them comments that she prefers outfit A because of the soft material and color chosen. Another says she prefers B, while A is cute, it depends on the person who wears it (whether she is confident of her own body.)
6:47 AT 6 PM, voting ends. Shiori and Cheesie were waiting in the room. They were just waiting for ONE phone call to the final result who will decide the ultimate winner.
(At that time everybody, including the directors and the whole filming crew were super nervous. The whole room was dead quiet to the point it was a bit morbid. I think they were even more nervous than us wtf. Shiori and i tried to crack jokes but nobody laughs FOL. I said the whole ambience feels like we’re waiting outside an emergency room for the doctor to walk out and tell us if the patient is dead or alive. )
7:20 THE phone call came. Kawaii TV staff announces that the result is out. (wa as typing this i feel all nervous again LOLOL almost cannot breathe).
7:30 “And the winner is….” (wa and then pause for damn long until my heart almost disappeared)
7:48 “Japan representative Kumakura Shiori”
(Actually i sort of had a feeling that i would lose in the last challenge that’s why i wasn’t shocked or so, after all the chance is really 50/50.
Even before that Shiori and i keep telling each other to just have fun at the event because the outfit is already chosen and there really isn’t anything else we could do or improve our chances of winning.)
8:00 Cheesie tells Shiori “Now you are the most Kawaii in the world!”. Shiori got 324 votes and Cheesie got 306 votes.
(Lost by 18 votes fml.
Actually at first i only teared a little because too emotional and because director Makita san was also tearing WHILE announcing the winner WTF. But then after Shiori left the room, another director Miyaoka san who is closer to my team came in, kneeled down with his camera and wanted to interview me about my feelings after losing the final challenge. At first i was ok wan, THEN HE STARTED TEARING while asking me question so suddenly i found myself sobbing like a stupid moron WTF.
Remember the first kawaii TV filming during Foruchizu meet up?? Lie and Maiko started crying and then we totally expect it and started tearing out of… shock wtf.
This time also everyone around us seemed to be more emotional than we actually were FOL.)
9:30 Shiori was very nervous before the finale, but there’s a surprise waiting for her back stage. Tsuchiya Anna and Hasegawa Jun (!!!!!!!) appeared and gave her encouragement.
10:45 It was 9:30PM and was finally Shiori’s runway debut!
12:14 Shiori walked for 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
12: 45 Fumi sensei told Shiori that this is one of her dreams come true, and she has grabbed it well with both her hands.
13:21 Shiori comments that she hardly ever cries , and this is the first time she cries so much in her life until her tear ducts almost damaged lol. In the end she comments that this would definitely , even maybe not immediate, a change to her life in a good way.
OK END OF ALL KAWAII OF THE WORLD.
(Actually not yet because i still have quite a lot of photos i haven’t posted :X)
Basically this is a post about why i love Japan.
I have been wanting to write this post for a long time, but keep procrastinating it because i couldn’t seem to find the right tone and angle to fully express what i wanted to say (also every day i find a new reason to love it so it become very long). Also because i potentially might get stoned to death by patriots, because even i feel like i’m betraying my own country. So it also involves a lot of complicated feelings.
But they are good rather than bad feelings. Sort of like a piece of nutella flavored bacon. Something like that.
But today i decided to just go all out wtf. It’s like confessing for the first time.
Here’s a little background story.
15 years ago there was this Japanese drama playing on TV. I was stunned to see how beautiful the actress was and how romantic the story was (last time la). I was hooked and started to want to know more about this whole Japanese thing. Then there were songs, Sailormoon, Ayumi Hamasaki, Sushi King (last time la) etc etc.
I was hooked forever.
Before i knew it, i started buying Japanese language books and speak random Japanese with my best friend. She called me Ringo (means apple) and i called her Ichigo (strawberry). It was our dream to go to Japan together one day. It was a far far far far away dream.
At one point i thought that i would never ever be able to travel to Japan. It was extremely expensive and i was poor wtf. But i continued to lived in my own dream. I continued going for weekend classes to learn Japanese and imagine one day i would be there. One day.
Then i also discovered lolita fashion and i was like sweet mother of god how on earth can someone be THAT CUTE?!?!? It was my dream to save up RM10,000, and one day i will travel to Japan and buy ALL the lolita fashion that i loved.
And then in 2008, i finally saved up RM5k to pay for a homestay in Nagano. The moment i landed at Narita airport i teared. The airport ground staff bowed to our airplane when it touched ground. In my heart i thought, this is my dream come true.
And then the rest is history (or rather in the archive of this blog wtf). Indeed it was a dream come true, and something more than that.
Sidetrack a little, today i watched this documentary recommended by Xiaxue and QiuQiu called “The Secret”, which is about positive thinking, law of attraction and crap like that. The normal cynical me would have been all, don’t bullshit me la. But when i thought of it, a lot of things make sense. So from now on i am going to sound all megalomaniacal and narcissistic (but that’s supposed to be the way apparently. I say one. lol).
Japan is just one of the examples. I have loved it for such a long time (15 years is a lot!!!!). And now it loves me back, for all the love i’ve ever poured for it. It keeps wanting me to go back. It’s true. Now it’s almost like i’m holidaying in Malaysia. I’m going there again this month 21st. For both work and holiday. And love.
(Ok I can’t believe that was the intro to this blog post.)
Anyway here’s the real post. Now about why i love Japan.
Everybody loves Japan in some way. The food, the people, the fashion, the hospitality, the professionalism, all the cute shit, anime, pop singers, fast internet, fresh sushi, sakura, and porn idols wtf.
You all know it. I love all of them. Except porn idols maybe. But this is something more on a personal level.
The true reason why i love Japan, is that i recently shockingly discovered that in Japan, i have become this person who…
who…
It’s weird to say this, but I have become someone i like.
I become someone even *i* actually like. And that is coming from someone who seldom like people. Including myself. My default button for a newly met person is dislike wtf. It takes a lot of trust for me to like someone. There was a phase in my life where self-loath was so intense i wished the of the world happen sooner so that i could disappear.
But i am becoming the person i wanted myself to be. In Japan. I become this disgustingly optimistic, genuinely helpful and polite, and most of all, shitlessly happy person i never imagined myself ever will be, or deserved to be.
Every minute i feel happy. Everything i do it makes me happy. Eating a convenient store onigiri makes me happy. Watching cute girls with cute fashion on the street makes me happy. Saying thank you to a shop staff makes me happy. Maybe even touching a Japanese stone make me happy wtf.
Maybe you’d think that’s because i’m experiencing it from a tourist point of view and through sakura-tinted glasses so of course everything looks cute, happy and perfect there. And also it is too soon for me to pass a comment because i don’t live or work there. Also everyone gives me that “grass is greener on the other side” nonsense.
Bitch please. Sakura is pinker on that side.
So on a honeymoon with/in Japan i might be, but i have watched news, learnt about their culture, recognized how hard life is for most people there, and many many other big social problems. So i pretty much also know the not so perfect side of Japan.
I love Japan enough to go back there 9 times (this coming trip in May is my 10th visit), and i have experienced enough to conclude that it is the best fucking place i have ever been to.
For things that i didn’t quite like about Japan, i get used to it.
Sure now i have to make my bed every single morning i wake up, i have to be extra careful and use polite speech with new people or people older than me, i cannot talk too loudly or sit anyhow i want in public places, i have to separate all the freaking 9000 types of garbage, i have to clean up after my food and tray in Starbucks, and now my latest hobby is folding toilet paper into triangle shape.
But you know what i think?
If you can deal with bribery, traffic jam, taxi snatchers and hair in your pan mee in KL, these are nothing.
Maybe after awhile, everywhere becomes sort of the same, you start complaining about your government, your neighbor, your neighbor’s dog. It is too cold. It is too hot. (In Malaysia it is just it is too hot and it is too hot.)
But generally i would still think that i’d be happier in Japan due to the simple fact that everyone takes things seriously and is ultra polite there so chances of me getting tulan and annoyed are lower compared to me living in, say KL. Idiots are everywhere and they irritate you, but at least idiots there (if exist) apologize and bow to you wtf. (Ky said maybe that’s the reason why they invented Yoko Yoko because of all the bowing lolol.)
Anyway, most of the things that i initially didn’t like turned out to be the exact things that could make me a better person (now i will end up sounding like not just a narcissistic, megalomaniacal but a condescending elitist wtf). Because here i learn about manners, politeness, social responsibility and pure kindness. It’s like starting Pendidikan Moral lesson 1 all over again.
It’s like a cult, if i must put it this way. I was shocked to find myself carrying a paper cup for 3 hours just so i could find the right dustbin to throw it in. That i politely smiled to someone who stepped on my toe. That’s something i could never ever do back home in here.
And finding myself doing that makes me happy. Being kind to people and receiving kindness from people make me super happy.
And being there makes me realize how insanely lucky i am to be able to see, smell, taste and touch all these… insanely awesome… stuff. And in return i appreciate every single thing i do or happens to me.
Especially after Tokyo Kawaii TV, i have been getting sooooo many comments from Japanese followers who thank me for loving Japan, which makes me love it even more. (if a foreigner tells me that he/she loves Malaysia my first response is, why ah?!” wtf) A few told me that thanks to me they have re-discovered their own culture, and good things about Japan.
This is so strange if you tell me this is what’s gonna happen, to the young me 15 years ago. I would have been like, what have you been smoking?!
So, shit. Now i am all having messiah syndrome thinking that it’s my calling to promote ALL the good stuff about Japan to the whole world.
Which i am gonna. lol. Because i want everyone to LOVE JAPAN so it will become an even more awesome country for the world.
I’m ending this post with a letter i received from a 17 years old reader.

That’s all. That was the story of my love for Japan. If you have any story to share about your love for Japan too, please leave a comment. I am really curious and i’d read ALL of them!! And share it with everyone!!!
Oh before i forget.

Sakura is pinker on this side.

Let me know which is your favorite coordinate!!!
Too many people asked me this question so i decided to show you once and for all how i do it!!!
Actually the only trick to wearing contact lens is not to use your nails.
There. Problem solved.
Using nails might accidentally scratch your contact lens or even tear it, so what i do is i use the softest part of my finger tip to gently pull it out.
Sorcery? Watch how.
Video brought to you by RainbowColor!
I know some of you are like, dafuq did you just do that? I dunno , i guess it’s just lots and lots of practice!
Also it helps that RainbowColor is super moist so it’s very very easy to put in and take out! I have already been wearing that pair for 3 months but it’s still very hydrated!
Other tips of wearing contact lens and contact lens care include:

Just very basic stuff la actually you know know already. Actually i never adhere to “insert contact lenses before putting make up” cuz sometimes i will forget one -____-.
But that day Aud told me her friend’s brother NEVER TAKE OUT CONTACT LENS FOR 5 MONTHS WTF. He wears it to sleep WTF. For 5 months WTF.
So if you do that please stop :X
Anyway, if you don’t know about RainbowColor yet, it is a collaboration of GEO lens and Cheesie which is available in 7 different colors and different power.

Now available at every SASA outlet including East Malaysia (only plano) and for powered ones you can purchase it online HERE!!
RainbowColor ships worldwide so overseas readers, do make your order nao! ^^
I am just curious. Is there anyone of you who are reading this right now have not grown up with Nestlé? I’m quite sure that everyone i ever know of, including my mom and my mom’s mom has/had spent their whole life with Nestlé.
Because when i read about Nestlé celebrating their 100 years birthday, it hit me that how much i have grown up with Nestlé. You can even question how much of my current cardinal self is made up of Nestlé products lolol.
Take a minute to consider ALL the milo you have had all these mornings. Think about the ALL Maggi Mee you’ve ever cooked. Remember ALL the Kitkats you have ever nommed while taking a break.
I know, right?
One could argue that Nestlé more or less is the definition of my childhood.
I have many memories with Nestlé since young.
1. MILO TRUCK

To be honest, right up till today, every time i see a Milo van i still get excited as i was 20 years ago.
Milo vans made our days. Every time i Milo van comes we got excited as if we just saw Santa Claus. Although they come very rarely, but that’s exactly what makes them so special and precious. It was like the childhood equivalent of striking a lottery lol.
Until today i still don’t understand why Milo van’s Milo TASTE SO GOD DAMN GOOD. Milo van’s Milo tastes the best. Better than Milo kao i make at home myself, better than Milo Dinosaur at mamak stalls. Somebody please explain this!!!!!!!!!
2. MAGGIE MEE

To us children back in the days, Maggie Mee was God. There’s so much things you can do with it. With egg, without egg. With soup, without soup. With chili oil, without chili oil. Springy noodles, soggy noodles.
Maggie Mee is the first ever thing i learnt how to cook (Leaves, flowers and bugs on oiled Milo lid with a candle beneath doesn’t count, i guess). Unfortunately it’s also the last thing i know how to cook T_T.
3. Nestlé SCHOOL PACK

I still remember last time the cereal were all in big boxes and although they were tasty i wished i could faster finish it so i could buy another flavor.
And then they came up with this 6 in 1 School Pack thing and i was like OMG MY LIFE IS COMPLETE lol.
Which is your favorite? My favorite is Honey Stars lol. Koko Krunch i love t0o because it makes the milk chocolately!!!
4. Nestlé CERELAC

Before i say anything, PLEASE DON’T JUDGE ME.
:X
I am eating this until today :X
WHAT! I LOVE IT!!!
I dunno why! I know on the tin it specifically says “for infant” lolol but i looooove this. Probably my favorite Nestlé product lol. Am i weird really? I just love the texture and the smell of it and also how it really makes me feel like a baby again lol.

Like i used to be in my mom’s arms. :3

Sometimes i still eat this for breakfast or supper. That’s like my super comfort food <333
What’s your fond memories with Nestlé? I’m sure all of you have something to share!
Go to Nestlé 100 Years for some inspiration! If you have a great story to share, you can also win some awesome prizes!

You can submit your stories in 4 forms: video, written story, picture and tweet.
I want to know ALL your Nestlé stories!!!
Sorry for splitting the episode and posting same-ish things 4 posts in a row. Just wanna get it out of the way so i can blog about other stuff! Like…. more of Japan HAHAHHA.
Picture first!!
So, Shiori and i were the last two remaining in the competition.
Before our last challenge, we had to do a catwalk session, and we were the TWO WORST contestants out of six in the whole competition when it comes to catwalk lol.

#1

#2
Coorde of the day. It’s still so cold back then!

#3

#4
Shiori and i reached the catwalk studio. While they set up the camera we had to wait outside and was soooo cold T__T

#5
Got people commented i look like Notre Dame here HAHAHAH

#6
In the studio.
We practiced from 10AM till 2PM.
Also kena scolded by Fumi chan sensei because we chose to rest and not practice during a 10 minutes break T___T.

#7
Imagine walking in 4 inches for 4 hours none stop. Summore isn’t normal walking. Had to “stand straight, chin down, drop your shoulder, stick out your hip” and after 4 hours our back bone was so pain until dunnowhat.
T___T

#8
Our lunch T___T (ok but super yummy)

#9
Our catwalk sensei Fumichan. Who is super famous la he trains superstars like AKB48 ok!!!!!
Everybody says he’s super scary because he always cold people until cry wan T__T. But i think he’s DAMN funny and kind-hearted really. Sometimes he will touch you to adjust your posture and then he will say “don’t worry i’m gay”. LOLOL.
He also ask me to promote him on my blog HAHA.

#10
Nah here you are. He is so cute la lol.

#11
After that i went to 109 to do my nails!
TGC’s theme this season is Sherbet Garden, so i did paddle pop colors!!

#12
I have never seen such cute gel nail colors before!!!!

#13
Cute right!!!!
And the quality of Japanese gel nail is so high that mine lasted something like 2 months wtf.

#14
The next day.

#15

#17

#18
With Shiori

#19
And Kawaii TV producer haha.

#20
Our next challenge was TGC fashion challenge.
We didn’t know the brand assigned to us until the last day. Mine was BEAMS!!

#21
Here’s my model, HENA from Korea.

#22
The theme for our outfit is Sherbet Garden and “sheer material”, so i picked a coordinate that i thought would suit HENA!!

#23
Head accessory for her!!

#24
Here’s the outfit!! NICE OR NOT!!
It’s a pastel purple tie-dye top with floral pastel shorts. Camel color bag with a colorful scarf. And lots and lots of thin necklaces.

#25
And the back has a big surprise!! 😀
It’s backbone design that shows her pretty skin and she will be wearing a forest print bikini inside.

#26
And HENA is super tall (173cm) so i make her wear flats!

#27
With BEAMS shop staff.
Honestly i was very very happy with the coordinate that i chose for HENA lol.

#28
Also we get to choose an outfit for ourselves IN CASE WE WON. Cuz the winner gets to wear their own choice of outfit to walk on stage.
I wore a matching pastel tiger print loose shirt and also forest-print bikini inside.

#29
Kinda unrelated but FORUCHIZU made it onto Japanese magazine!!!!! Proud anot!!!
OK end.
Video here!!
0:00 The next challenge for the last two girls chosen out of 170 people worldwide is Tokyo Girls Collection. They have to pick the latest spring outfit for their TGC model, and the live audience will decide the winner by voting their preferred outfit on their cell phone.
00:50 Cheesie and Shiori went for catwalk lesson. Introduction of catwalk sensei Fumi chan.
1:30 The two of them had no experience in catwalk and there are here for strict training.
2:08 Cheesie has improved gradually over time. Fumi sensei comments that her shoulder moves less now (before that my biggest problem was that my shoulder move when i walk WTF).
2:30 Fumi sensei comments that Cheesie has a dramatic change after practicing. He said that he noticed that she has copied his style exactly, and in Japan there was only one model who managed to do that before. WTF.
3:25 Shiori tells us that she couldn’t use her left hand since she was born, and that her left and right hand have different length and size so she has very unbalanced posture.
4:00 Fumi hchan comments that he knows about Shiori’s disadvantage in this situation, and to make her able to do proper catwalk is also a challenge for himself.
4:49 Fumi chan requested all crew to be cleared from this room because he needs to talk to Shiori alone. After 10 minutes, he allowed the filming crew to go in. (That time i was still waiting outside and had no idea what was going on inside.)
5:30 Fumi chan tells Shiori that she is not inferior and wants her to look at the mirror and walk confidently.
6:10 Shiori says that if she doesn’t tell anyone no one would notice that she is different so all her life she just kept quiet about it, but now she thinks that maybe that’s not a right thing to do.
6:35 Cheesie and Shiori begin practice again. Gradually Shiori also has a positive change in walking.
7:35 Lesson finally finsihed, and Fumi sensei tells Shiori not to be envious of other people but live her own way.
8:00 Cheesie goes to Harajuku for her last challenge, the brand is BEAMS.
9:15 Shiori goes to Uraharajuku to pick her coordinate. She comments that TGC is different from Paris fashion collection so she wants to choose an outfit that a girl can wear during normal days. She chose a fishnet knitted top and a plain color shorts.
11:00 Cheesie and Shiori’s interview the night before the big day. Shiori says that she thinks that walking on TGC will definitely change her life.
[to be continued]
The rest are introduction of all the judges present for all the challenges (which i’m too lazy to translate unless someone volunteers to lol.)
That’s all. Only last video left!!!!
After the elimination of Woyuki (China) and Marina (Japan), we had to carry on immediately with our next challenge: a make up tutorial.
And we had a special guest to come and visit us and give us make up advise.
The door bell rang and i saw…
‘
MAIKO!
Didn’t expect to see her so i totally screamed!!

She is so hot i don’t even.

Maiko giving Amandine advice on her make up theme for tomorrow.

We chatted a little and she’s very happy that i’ve changed style and said i did well T____T *tear of joy* #goodstudent

When i posted my picture with Maiko on Instagram, got comment ask if we were Asian -________-

Then got people think i met Ayumi Hamasaki. lol Ok la i take la. *basks in fake glory*

So the next day we went shopping in the morning to buy make up items that we needed for the tutorial.

at WC Shibuya!

These are my tools for the tutorial!

Everything was up to us, the angle, the way of filming etc.

To cut the story short i was very upset with my tutorial and i won this challenge only because YOU GUYS voted for me.
I want to say thank you again!

I was the last person to edit my tutorial. When it was my turn it was like 2AM in the morning. I had to sit by the director, watch the video that is almost 1 hour long together, tell him which part i wanted to keep or cut, then do voice over, choose the soundtrack, then subtitle.
I almost died when it was finally done. It was 7:30AM in the morning.
At least i could sleep in late the next day. But kesian the directors they all had to rush to upload the videos and work omg. For a moment i suspected they are NHK droids in human form. Even without proper sleep they are still super patient and kind to us, i don’t think that’s something i can EVER do. I would have stabbed three crying babies and stomped a unicorn to death. Luckily there weren’t any babies around. Or unicorns.
Then.
It’s the voting, which i begged you guys to vote for me in the post. duration is only 24 hours. You guys are the best. Again.

That’s Amandine mocking a vegetable wtf.

Amandine

Shiori

The next day was a chill day because everyone was like walking dead. We just stayed in bed all day and cooked spinach bacon lol.

At night, Woyuki cooked hot pot for us! She was eliminated but she still stayed around till the end.
And that’s about the last few moments i had with Amandine. She was eliminated from the tutorial challenge and she had to move out of my room.
By the time i came back from the next challenge she was gone T___T

Notes we left each other in the room.

So the last 3 people left was Usagi, Shiori and I.
Our next challenge was so create a magazine that has the power to spread Kawaii culture to the world. We had to choose the theme of the magazine, and we would be on the cover.
So we would have to choose our own outfit, then do a photoshoot, and then choose the cover picture and edit the cover ALL BY OURSELVES.
If you watch the video below, the whole challenge was just like 5 minutes long. But to us it was FOREVER. I spent hours and hours deciding on a theme and time was running out and everyone was panicking lol.

The first thing we did was to choose our outfit in 109.

Both of us had no idea what theme to pick at that time :X

Soft cream at SBY 109.

At night, i consulted my readers on twitter and FB, and i have decided on the theme finally.
I REALLY AM SO LUCKY!!!
I feel that you guys really helped me in everything i did which is why i got this far into top 2 (in the end). T___T

The next day we went to the studio for professional makeover and photoshoot.

My make-up theme is MODE of course.
My god my make-up artist was so damn merticulous until i’m speechless. Because we had to decide on the whole look 100% on our own, so you really had to act like as if you know wat you are talking about wtf.
All the time he was like, would you like the cheek color to be peach or pink or peach-pink? Would you like it to be round on cheek or across your cheek? How many piece of bottom lash do you wanna put?
All that details.
I really like how they make you give input yourself instead of just doing a make-over for you.

Make finish.
I felt like i have never been more chio in my entire life LOL.
Now only i know how shitty my own make up still is T_T

Then he also did my hair according to my wish.

The whole look.

Nice or not!!!!
I am still trying very hard to replicate this look until today. This was the only make up that doesn’t show my eyebags and dark circles and i have no idea how he did it.
What sorcery is this?!??!

The 3 of us after makeover.

We decided on the photo for the cover, and then edited it magazine cover! We get to Photoshop own picture, and choose the font and exactly what text and copy we use on the cover.
It was really really fun!!!
.
.
.
The next day. Judgement day.

Tokyo had the heaviest snow i’ve ever seen in my time. Just over one morning the whole city was all white.

Outfit for the presentation.

We all got our own magazine! With us on the cover!!! YAY!!

It felt really good and weird at the same time lol.

Basically i wanted to make a magazine (online) that focus on Real Time Fashion from Japan to all over the world.
I spent like 20 minutes explaining to the judges wtf. Cuz damn scared they don’t understand me :X. The contest has unleashed the kiasuness i have never seen in myself wtf.
Anyway it’s too long for me explain the whole concept also scared later people steal/extract my idea lol which is why i never sleep in planes now anymore HAHA LAME JOKE.
Anyway enough.
Video nao!!
Summary:
0:00 The next challenge is a make-up tutorial challenge voted by girls all over the world. The one with least vote will be eliminated.
0:30 Introduction of Amandine. She’s the leader of a Gyaru Circle in Paris. Her theme of make up is Onee Gyaru.
1:15 Amandine panicks and asks “excuse me, can you pass me some tissue please?” And it looks like she doesn’t really have her luck in this challenge, at first she couldn’t open her contact lens case (and hurt her finger in the process), and bought the wrong shade of loose powder.
2:30 Amandine comments that it was her first time trying some of the new bought products so it didn’t go very well. (Actually for me it was the same case too T__T)
2:45 It shows that Cheesie is getting all her readers to vote for her on her Facebook and Foruchizu. It also shows one of her VIP member Christy (from the first ever Foruchizu gathering) say “aye aye boss” lol. It also shows that she has voters from Czech Republic (thank you!!!!!!) and Brazil (Thank you!!!!!)
(If you left a comment, try to spot if it gets on air!!! 😛 )
3:30 Cheesie got first place in this challenge with 2761 votes out of a total of 3560 votes (Mother of god you guys are AWESOME).
3:45 Amandine comments that she is sad to get eliminated, and she wished she could have gone further.
4:00 The next challenge for the last 3 is to create an original fashion magazine (cover).
4:30 Cheesie presenting her magazine. (No need translate here la cuz i speak in English wtf and was so nervous you better skip that whole part).
5:12 Beni comments that she wants to read Cheesie’s magazine. Judge Watanabe San says that he feels very touched that someone has thought in such details in order to spread Japanese Kawaii Culture to the world. TGC Chief Producer Okuda San comments that indeed Japanese winter fashion is hard to sell in tropical Asia countries so it’s a really good idea. Fashion Photographer Naoki San commets that it would be helpful (to magazine scene) if Cheesie stays in Japan. WTF.
6:10 Intoduction of Usagi Pyon, who is the chief member of a New York Gyaru Circle. She masters Japanese make up through Japanese fashion magazines. Her concept for the magazine is a gyaru make up magazine for American readers that focuses on self confidence.
7:30 Okuda San comments that the concept is great but it would be better if she incorporate more of Japanese kawaii element in the magazine. Magazine editor Yonehara San comments that sexiness from overseas might be a little too much for Japanese people, but if she adds a little more kawaii elements to turn it into Erokawa (erotic kawaii) it would be great.
8:10 The last is Shiori. It appears that she hasn’t decided on a concept yet. But she suddenly has an epiphany lol and decided that she wanna create a Make Up book.
9:10 It shows how Shiori is skillful in make up style especially in creating large eyes by sticking the eyelashes the opposite way and using double eyelid tape.
10:00 Her theme for the photoshoot is Doll-Like. And her make up magazine’s target audience is from highschool students to OL.
10:41 Shiori expresses that normally fashion magazines has too many different genres, so she wants to create a magazine that specializes in make up that suits different kind of fashion style.
11:10 Ikki and Beni comments that they indeed haven’t seen a make up magazine and the idea is fresh. Okuda San comments that fashion changes really fast but make up has a longer shelf life, so it would make great content for a worldwide audience.
11:40 It shows that Cheesie is the top again in this challenge, and Shiori is a close number two.
12:10 Usagi Pyon is eliminated in this challenge.
The end.
And i’m very tired of translating nao i need a snack wtf.
Update Part 4 again when i’m free!!
Part 2 Up!!
This episode is about our first mission—to decorate Domokun.
Anyway, back story. When the 6 of us were selected, we had no idea what we were up against. The only thing we know is that one out of the six of us will be chosen the winner and walk on the TGC runway in March, that’s all. We didn’t even know where we were gonna stay until we reached Narita airport.
So when they announced the first mission, and divided us into three teams (2 each from the same room), and told us that the team that loses in this mission will go back home we were like
?!??!?!?!?!??!?. I thought they were just joking.
But seriously, 4 of us (Malaysia, Beijing, Paris and New York) flew hours to Japan and we might be out of this whole competition within just 3 days? That was too big a shocker to us.
Amandine, my room mate, was in the same team as me.

The initialy Domokun was just a normal Domokun except in white.
Our theme was Oshare French Maid Domokun. Reason is because Amandine is French, and i used to love costumes alot! We were given some material to work with and 2000 yen to buy whatever else we need at Don Quixote.

First of all i was so worried because we had to make everything from scratch!!! Literally like from plain cloth and needles and threads wtf.
But everything turned up quite well. We worked till 2:30AM at night and made sure every single detail was flawless.

Our almost complete French Maid domokun. Ze white hair thing is made out of some spontaneous stuffing -_-

And i don’t think i have improvised so much with junks since Kindergarten. There were only so much we could do with limited resources, so we used lipstick for Domokun’s pink cheek, some random string tied on a box for the duster and wire from the store room for the stick WTF.

And in the end i must say we were quite happy with our masterpiece. :X
(Although now on hindsight i think it looks more like a feline witch than anything else.)
We were too kiasu to settle for less than perfect and we wanted to stay in the competition SO BADLY. Also good ideas keep sprouting out and i think she’s a super awesome team mate.
Having done 100% our best wasn’t enough, we still kept thinking way to make it 120% awesome.
And both of us thought of a surprise.

We made the behind of Domokun a Hello Kitty WTF.

HAHAHAHHA. The nose is improvised from Don Quixote’s yellow plastic bag LOL
Not only that, the next day was the dreaded judgment day and we had to do presentation for our product.

So we thought of matching our make up and outfit with Domokun’s as well, which is cat eye make up, rhinestones under eyes (which we added to Domokun), and also cat ear hair style!!!
Feels like college again wtf.

In the bus to filming.

Woyuki and Usagi Pyon.

My team mate!

And Usagi.
HERE’S THE VIDEO!!!
Summary
0:30 Revealing of the first challenge for all the six representative—-Decorating Domokun! Our job is to turn the brown boring looking Domokun into a kawaii Domokun that the whole world will love! Judging criteria is decoration sense and creativity.
1:00 Introduction of Woyuki (China) who is one of the top 10 finalists of a super model competition, and Fujii Marina (Japan), who is a catalogue and magazine model.
2:45 It shows that Woyuki is the one who is making the entire decision from concept, material to design while the only word Marina could say is “OK”.
3:45 Marina comments that due to language barrier it’s hard for her to express her own opinion even though they have different direction on the challenge.
4:25 Woyuki doing a presentation on their Domokun themed “Lucky Angel”, which concept and designed used is mainly Chinese.
5:00 Judges giving their opinions on their Domokun. Most of them comment that the concept isn’t delivered so well.
5:30 Second team is Cheesie and Amandine, which theme is Oshare French Maid, a fusion of French and Japanese elements.
6:15 It shows that one of the judges, Yamaguchi san (who is the super famous designer for Sanrio Hello Kitty
) who is normally super ruthless with her criticism, actually smiled and said that she honestly thinks the design is very cute ![]()
7:10 Last team is Shiori (Japan) and Usagi (America)’s Domokun: “JK Pamyu Pamyu”, which is highschool uniform with a teddy back pack. Judge Yamaguchi san commented that it looks more like a baby sitter than a high school student.
8:00 The winning team is Cheesie & Amandine, which Yamaguchi san gave full mark wtf.
8:30 The losing team had to leave the room. Marina commented that she wished she had incorporated more Japanese elements in the design. And Woyuki heard that, she said she thinks that Japanese girls are normally too polite to voice out their opinion, and if it was her fault that caused the team to have lost she feels very sad.
OK END.
Part 3 next time!
I am breaking the 1 hour long video into 5 parts and here’s part one!! A lot of readers request for subtitle but if i sub a one-hour long video maybe you need to chip in a graveyard for me wtf.
So i will try to do a summary below the video!
The entire filming for Kawaii Of The World was almost two weeks long, and total footage is more than 100 hours. The directors have painstaking watched ALL of them and edited days and nights. How they didn’t become blind is a mystery. The final version was 1 hour. They had to 忍痛 cut from the original 3 hours and compress everything into a one-hour show.
There are a lot of interesting/touching moments that weren’t on the show so i feel it’s a little wasted, after all, the six of us had gone through tears and fears and mother of all kancheong-ness. It’s really not something a one-hour video can explain. If i remember i will try to story it here!!
Anyway i think i have said it before, but this was really the best competition i have ever joined in my life. It didn’t feel like a competition at all, although you’d imagine 6 girls competing with each other in order not to be the next one to get kicked out would be rather intense and bitchy.
But man, these girls are one of nicest people i’ve met, and also the filming crew, assistants (or chaperons wtf) and interpreters are soooooooo nice. And none of the footage is staged, every single second was natural and spontaneous. And we were taken ultimate care of during the stay although due to time constrain we could only have bento most of the time but really everyone is so sincere and kind omg. I guess that’s what i call professionalism. I really miss all of them even now that it’s over for awhile!
Some of the photos i took:

#1
My first day in Tokyo for Kawaii Of The World.
I was assigned to room with European representative Amandine (from Paris). This is how we split the cabinet and closet space lol.

#2
Me, Amandine, Shiori (Japan) and Marina (Japan)
When i first saw Marina i was like
Fuck. 🙂
She is so beautiful i don’t even. She gets quite little air time because she was eliminated first, and for some reason she looks 100000 times prettier in real life than on video.

#3

#4
China representative Woyuki

#5
In the bus waiting to go for catwalk training. Hell awaits us wtf.

#6
With Shiori

#7
Making friend with Shiori. Little did i know that we will hang out so much even after the contest. I am seeing her again tomorrow for lunch wtf.

#8
Girls getting to know each others.

#9
Malaysian flag!!!!!!!

#10
The is for our first mission! Went to 109 with my team mate Amandine!

#11
This is for the Kawaii Summit. Feels so superior like some super intelligent fashion engineer lol.
Will try to translate the important parts! (unless someone volunteers to sub the entire video wtf)
Summary:
0:45 One year ago NHK Kawaii TV started this new project called Kawaii Of The World, 172 contestants have participated over 11 countries.
1:30: And it has all come down to the last two contestants (Cheesie and Shiori).
1:45 (Basically introducing Cheesie as a fashion blogger, what she does etc), and that she can speak multiple languages.
3:00 Cheesie has won first place in all 3 missions (Domokun, Make Up tutorial & Magazine creation)
3:15 (Basically shows the judges saying good things about Cheesie wtf. I shy to say).
3:50 Introduction of Shiori as a make-up expert. It shows how impressive it is that she can do different make over and different styles.
5:00 And these two people are to compete in the last mission—to pick an outfit for their respective models to wear on TGC stage, and the result is based on public vote on the spot with their cell phones.
5:40 One the winner gets to walk on the dream stage TGC wtf.
Ok that’s all! Part 2 soon!
PS: This Saturday i’m on NHK Tokyo Kawaii again wtf summore the episode is “All About Cheesie” i think this two months alone my airtime on the program is more than Beni’s wtf. NHK might as well make me a regular wtf. Also they call me the “Miraculous Fashion Blogger” WTF.
