That’s right everyone! Cheesie-sama has been called back after being sent off in the closed auditions, which you can watch here at the Malaysian Dreamgirl official website. Whether it’s because the judges finally recognized their errors, or that the producer enticed her to come back with many promises, I don’t know. Fact is, guys, CHEESIE IS BACK IN ACTION!!
So what can we do peeps? We can VOTE and SUPPORT her from home! Yeap, since it’s voting season anyway, you might as well carry on the voting spirit (and to those who are underaged to vote in the elections, well, you CAN NOW! :D)

Least they had some sense to call her back even though she should always have been there in the first place. We’ll have to see whether she can win or not though as since its all based on SMS votes, wonder how many Cheeserlanders will vote? (I will try from UK as much as I can.) Also bearing in mind that the other girls may have rich friends who can spam votes at will (seen this happen before too unfortunately), makes this a uphill task. So lets try and do it for Cheesie eh?

I agree Ringo, the judges are blind , stupid and rude, The first episodes (Kenny so rude, Elaine looked and behaved like bitch, and the ah kua like sai) all so incompetent and unprofessional. Tolong lar, they better watch other talent TV programes and see how judges ask questions and talk.. Really men-sia-soi-lang their behaviour, opinions, judgements and stupid comments. Evelyn, it should have been a dream girl search but it ended up being just another model search. if you enjoyed joining a model search to make friends that’s good
(do be careful tho - not to put you off but some girls can be very two-faced). Getting into the second stage is still good, maybe enter another one and you’ll be a finalist..dun get disheartened! I’ve had plenty of friends get knocked out of the first round Miss.(insert name here) pageants.
As for dreamgirls looking pro, not so sure. Until they get better judges and actually have a tv show, better way of voting etc..then its not pro.

Porkie I beg to differ with what you say about the show. You cannot judge whether a show is pro by TV airtime, which the very conception is so yesterday. Try watch some local reality series on TV, and tell me all of them are more professionally made.
About the judges, I can’t think of better judges than these 3. Who else do you think can replace the role of Elaine? Most local models can’t even speak English properly. Lim Jimmy is a fashion stylist. Kenny is the odd one, but according to the show info from the website he is supposed to represent the common people’s perception of beauty, in contrast of Elaine & Jimmy’s elitist perspective, thus making a more interesting idea on beauty.
What do you mean by better voting system? American Idol uses SMS voting, So You Think You Can Dance uses SMS voting. What better voting system do you suggest then?
As for advertising, there isn’t much in terms of massive marketing campaign I give you that. But ever heard of viral marketing? This is a clever marketing idea, using the word of mouth to spread the news. One very good precedent is Halo 2’s “I Love Bee” campaign. Another more recent example would be Cloverfield.
Granted everything the show does is very experimental at this stage. We all know reality series is the norm now, as is Youtube/online video trends. Malaysian Dreamgirl is just combining the two currently most popular elements into one, which is a very commendable effort. Even the method of marketing (viral marketing), making use of the power of social media, are all very clever and will seem unfair to be plastered with the word “unpro”.
This is just a personal observation of a guy who loves web, about the current web trend, social media as well as web marketing. No hard feelings towards you Porkie but I just have to say something.

Well I’m entited to my opinion as are the others. Nothing you can say will change it either. Kenny represent the common people? LOL…I think there is enough people here saying Kenny is not good enough for that, even as far as saying he’s your average hamsap loh.
Erm..MDG relies soley on SMS? whereas the rest also have phone votes?
You seem just a bit too much into this, got more than just a watching interest in it?

And yeah, more than watching interest like you say. I’m more intrigued by the idea of putting the show online instead of the conventional TV. Interested to know how this will affect the local web and media industry.

Don’t hate me, but I believe part of the reason why you’re back is because you have a pretty strong support from the blogging community. The decision is wise, it can either get more support from the blogging folks and/or be promoted to more people.
