Happy 2018!

December 31, 2017

Ok so the last post I published was 11 Dec 2016, I think I broke my own record again for being absent here.

We just returned to KL a few days ago from our 2-week stay in Japan, flew to Bangkok straight away for a day trip, came back to KL midnight and drove all the way back the next morning back to Singapore. So… please grant me a small break haha.

Anyway I thought about chilling my last day of 2017 away, but then I went to read my year end blog post on 2016, and I thought, damn, I can’t lose to the me in 2016, because I AM ONLY ALWAYS BETTER. Staying in Singapore really makes me more kiasu now hahaha. read more

13 YEARS

September 9, 2017

Hi. It’s me. I’m still here.

Today this blog turns 13 years old.

If this blog is my offspring, she is now a teenager with her emoness on full blast, and slightly out of control. I apologize in advance for her inappropriate behaviors.

So while nothing dramatic happened in the past year of my life, something very dramatic, even life-threatening happened to this blog.

This blog was hacked.

It happened last September, which was a year ago, where it was infected by a malware that messed things up on and off. I fixed it, it came back, I fixed again and it came back again. And then it started to happen more and more regularly. I’m sure some of you remember this because for months, every other day I received comments and emails of concerned readers who told me that they couldn’t access my blog or that every time they accessed my blog it jumped to a spam site. read more

Life in Singapore 4

December 27, 2016

It has been one year!

(First post about Life in Singapore here.)

Our apartment lease is up, and we are moving to a new place. I can’t believe we have (sort of on and off) lived in Singapore for one whole year now.

It was Christmas when we first moved here.

Number76 was just words printed on a hoarding board.

Sakura was still in my tummy.

After one year, I am happy to announce that we are finally quite settled down. After one year of testing the water (and say real one, water here actually not bad. At least cleaner than Malaysia HAHAHA). We are all ready to start our new lives here. I told Qiu, xiexieni de country treat me so good. She said you are welcome. read more

12 YEARS

September 9, 2016

Today this blog turns 12 years old.

For the past few years I kept preparing myself for the imminent demise of this blog but I guess… it accidentally survived yet another year.

Just right before I gave birth to Sakura, I seriously considered taking a break from blogging so I can give my best to being a real mother. But I guess… I love writing here too damn much to even have a break.

Twelve years ago I was stuck at home with nowhere to go so I befriended my laptop. Twelve years later I am stuck at home with @cheesiepetit X2 and can only befriend my laptop when they are both asleep. And I am pretty happy (or pretty AND happy. Ok actually I’d prefer the latter HAHAHA). read more

The Helper

March 31, 2016

I am taking a break from blogging and work.

Or at least taking it at my own pace and not to worry about deadlines and going for meetings once I clear all my existing work. It kind of sucks because this Monkey Year is supposed to be the most prosperous for my career hahahha but I guess it will prevail in some other way that I never forsee?

But it was a conscious decision to make. I am going to deliver a new baby in May and things will have to slow down a little for me, with a 2-year-old and  new born. So I think it is time I be a little more realistic. read more

3rd YEAR ANNIVERSARY

December 24, 2015

Today we celebrate our third wedding anniversary.

We spent our first anniversary in a Hakone ryokan with an extra family member in my belly.

We spent the second anniversary in our little apartment in Japan, eating combini-bought Christmas cake and other assorted tapao from food market, with our 6-month old Junya.

This year, we are in our newly rented apartment in Singapore, trying to adjust to our new temporarily life in a new city, with the 18 month old Junya, and a 19 weeks old baby in the belly. read more

The things we took for granted

October 31, 2015

For the past few weeks i’d been feeling like i didn’t want to live anymore.

Well, i didn’t want to live a life like this in Malaysia anymore, to be precise. I wanted to go back to Japan. Or any other place where there was no haze. I didn’t want to deal with it because i didn’t know how to.

What could i do? I bought two of the most expensive air purifiers i could find online (because i didn’t want to drive out in the haze to buy), i sealed every single window in my house tight (I went batshit crazy when i saw one that was accidentally open the other day). I limited my groceries to the market downstairs and wore N95 masks when i had to go out of the door. I grounded Junya and myself at home for 3 weeks with our aircons and air purifiers blasting at MAX. I cancelled all his classes and most of my meetings. It was the freaking Apocalypse for me. read more

11 years

September 9, 2015

Today this blog turns 11 years old.

Last year i briefly thought about not being able to have posts like these anymore. But i guess it survived yet another year.

I thought to myself, i have persisted something for 10 years, and even if it doesn’t work anymore, i considered it an achievement. It was like, 我给了自己一个交代。都值了。

During my interview with BFM last month, i was asked to share my tips to successful blogging.  I thought for a long while (it sounded like i answered effortlessly but that’s because they cut out my errrs and uhmmms lolol. Thanks Natalie.) before i concluded that it was plain luck. read more

Mommy Hormones

July 7, 2015

Few days ago i was at a wedding with the danna. After the wedding, i texted a friend:

“Shit. I just cried at a wedding dinner. I am so freaking embarrassed!”

“Huh why??? I cry at weddings all the time! It’s okaaaay.”

“No, you don’t understand. It’s not like that.”

No, it’s not like that. Yes, love is in the air, the bride was beautiful, the groom beamed with happiness, the guests were ecstatic, the video was one of the most touching i’ve seen, but it was not that. read more

Tomorrow

April 1, 2015

In a couple of hours i’ll be celebrating my 25th birthday for the 17th time!

Just kidding. Actually this is just my 9th birthday 5 years in a row.

I actually forgot about it until a girl friend asked me how am i celebrating tomorrow and i was like huh. She’s like, aren’t you going out with friends?? To somewhere?! At least?! I was like what friend.

Anyway, this is the first time in 3 years i am not celebrating my birthday in Japan. Under a sky of sakura trees. And then the danna has been so busy with work that every morning when he leaves the house he bends down and tells Junya, “Papa goes to work now, see you tomorrow.” lolol. And then he’s not the surprise-party planning nor lavish present fancy bouquet type of husband. And i have always been bad at the whole party thing. So this year there would be no party, no celebration, no family dinner, no presents, no husband even lolol. And no Japan T____T. By right this would be my worst birthday ever. read more

The Goddess Who Lost Her Name

February 5, 2015

I have just finished watching this Japanese drama called “Namae Wo Nakushita Megami” (名前をなくした女神), literally means, the Goddess Who Lost Her Name. The tagline of the drama is “Welcome to the hell of mama friendships”.

It is a story about 5 families, mainly the mother of the family and the drama revolving their friendship. Some are crazy jealous and some are nice but turned out to be psychos lol.

(On a side note, watch out for this little girl who goes by the name Lala in the drama. She is by far the cutestttttttestestest Japanese girl i’ve ever seen T_____T. read more

Happy 2015!

December 31, 2014

So, let’s see what has happened in 2014!!

1. Had a baby!

2.

Hmm.

I had a baby. And….. that’s all. That pretty much sums up my year 2014 lolol.

image3 (2)

But 2014 has been the happiest year! 😀 😀 😀 Although i thought the same about 2013.

All the better, i am spending new year here in Japan, with the danna and Junya! (We always fly back to Malaysia on 31st December every year due to work.)

It’s really quite hard to imagine a life happier than this. Even washing the dishes here is a happy chore cuz their dish washing liquid is so kickass awesome. read more
