The thing about blogging

September 16, 2008

During an interview i was asked this question.

“So whose blogs do you read besides yours?”

It caught me thinking for a while. Hmmm. Good question.

Reading blogs nowdays is depressing. I kid you not. During a period of time, the only blog i read is cheeserland.com. Because it’s just so good. There are just way too many blogs that go like “How to monetize your blog” or “How to be a famous blogger” (ironically they are nowhere near famous or making a lot of money”), way too many Dawn-Yang lookalikes and way too many Kennysia soundalikes. There’s a fine line between entertaining and painful to read. read more

A day forgotten too

June 15, 2008

I can’t believe it happened to me. Twice. Two years in a row.

HH and I were eating some famous Asam Laksa at this Pasar Malam an hour ago. It was an exceptionally empty today. Normally it takes you 15 minutes standing beside the crowd drooling while waiting for a seat and another 20 minutes of waiting before your Laksa arrives. Today, 2 mintues later and we were downing steaming bowls of Laksa.

Two very old ladies came and sat beside us.

The Laksa was yummy.

HH nudged me lightly and whispered. read more

Cheesie’s Five Embarrassing Moments

April 7, 2008

Cheesie doesn’t seem to be happy with my posting of her “glamorous history”… so that’s why i want to “neutralize” it with this post…

i’m sure everybody has a moment right, when you wish there was a hole for you to hide into… yes, the most embarassing moments. although i have to say it’s actually more of MY embarassing moments, not hers… since she’s too young to feel it at that time…

So, these are herMY five embarassing moments, thanks baby May Zhee for the title… read more

How My Daughter stole all the Cheese!

March 28, 2008

mr.bbq:
Thanks KY for the absurd yet very cool title! In the meantime, guys and girls, our favourite Malaysian Dreamgirl Cheesie is still in the running for MDG! Thanks to everyone who made it happen 😀 Suffice to say she’s not anywhere near the bottom 3, but let’s not rest on our laurels… the show must go on! Remember to vote vote vote hehe..

Hi all, mama cheesie here again, and this time i’m going to take you way back in time, when cheesie herself looks like this:

4 year old cheese

It was her first ever graduation. No, not this one here when she was 6 years old. The one above was when she was just 4!! 4 year old cheese 🙂 read more

The Mommy Chronicles (??)

March 26, 2008

Hi all, this is granny mama cheesie making a special guestblogging appearance 🙂

My daughter, as you all know fondly as Cheesie, has never been one to show off about herself, mostly posting about her travels, funny stories, quirky stuff and others… This is why I want to make this a special post for her, while she’s doing her best in the Dreamhouse.

Smiling Cheese

I want all of you, her fans, supporters, readers and friends (and also those who are just passing by) to know how proud I am about this daughter of mine. read more

Not a wise move

December 14, 2007

I think.

My moving into this new place.

I feel monumentally lonely in this inhuman cubicle.

So I finally surrendered and had an aircon installed (like yay) after all the stubborn battle with something as obnoxious as the Malaysian weather. What was i, insane?

Gone is the familiar voice and warmth I used to be surrounded by all the time.

Things are lying scattered on the floor screaming their heads off for help.

So a home you have now, they say. Have i a home?

No. A cubicle of a pathetic 100sqft is what i have. Not a home. read more

I’m so blessed?

October 24, 2007

I’m slightly annoyed by things that happened after coming back from my holidays. Note that i added the word “slightly” because i sometimes i can’t help but love to exaggerate things. And now i wanna do just the opposite.

Everything is fine, baby.

When i’m upset i create a lot of vagarious capriccio (yea that, too). I don’t know why. Then people will go like, oh, Ringo is losing her pun/funniness. I dunno lo. Something that i used to enjoy doing so much now turned into something that constantly upsets me on a daily basis. I wonder why. And one good friend says, when it feels like that, just think about why you started doing it in the first place, and you might just find the pleasure all over again. read more

A sea of marshmallow,

October 22, 2007

null

I saw.

When i flew Emirates. On the way to Dubai actually, never mind the watermark.

I’m going to tell you a bizarre story about my flight.

Man, the randomness has hit me again. None of it chronologically accurate, just fragments of volatile memories floating aimlessly in my head, not knowing which pieces i should put together. I’m supposed to blog about Paris right. I know i know.

Anyway. Emirates is so cool. I bought the cheapest ticket in the world to London and I was so very happy with it. The service was excellent too. They never bothered to check if you actually put on your seatbelt, or ask you to straighten your seat back when you lie comfortably. Hehe. read more

Muse.

September 17, 2007

Omc. Does that happen to you? That your muse just suddenly comes that you type so much as if you’re possessed by an armless Sadako who needs a living substitute to vent her wrath.

Then it just suddenly goes away like a… erm ghost? (I meant to type wind but it’s as cliched as Gone with the wind and i just think a ghost gives more… oomph?)

(Okay i was thinking “shiver factor” instead of “oomph” because i guess oomph generally carries positivity? But i dunno why i typed that…) read more

Who moved my cheese?

August 15, 2007

Note: No la you’re not in the wrong blog. Cheeserland is now on iTalk Buddy. 🙂

I’m quite troubled by this jinx that has been following me for the past few weeks. Seems like the more i talk about something i want, the further it drifts away from me. Why? It was just an innocent anticipation, it was just an excitement i can’t wait to share to my loved ones, why would they just cheesappear half way towards my embrace?

It’s called the Futon Jinx. Futon (布団) is a kind of Japanese mattress. And i coined this term after reading an article from my Japanese class material. See, don’t you have this experience? Every night after you tuck in to bed (in this case the Japanese Futon) and before you float into dreamland, you fantasize about things you crave for. Maybe you make up a scene about how your massive, secret crush for two years suddenly confesses his/her feelings for you over a glass of Chardonnay, then leads to the scene where you guys finally make out blah blah blah… or getting your hands on your favorite Lamborghini’s steering wheel, getting an insanely high pay rise, passing your SPM with frying karers…. read more

A day forgotten

June 17, 2007

Went for dinner at Souled Out today with HH.

It’s more crowded today than the already crowded restaurant usually is. I had a prawn aglio olio and HH had sang har mee. The sang har mee was delicious! Not only were their king prawns huge and juicy, there was a grand total of 3 prawns! (Other restaurant normally gave two nia). The good thing is, they served the noodle in one dainty plate, then the gravy separated in another bowl!
