We are home now, but we have to go to the next event and are totally in a rush. She changes into a rather witchy outfit and puffed her face with bronzer and blusher. Wahahah it’s ticklish!! *giggles.

Cheesie reached Istana Budaya and met her #addiction Aud for Lat Kampung Boy the musical.

Aud praises her for looking so fresh and gorgeous after a long day, to which she flings her hands and replies, “what to do, born this way”.  Which left me quite speechless because she conveniently forgot to mention me

After a looooooong two and a half hours, we finish the musical. It was awesome! And then it’s time for supper. Cheesie doesn’t even talk anymore because she is so tired. But i still have the energy to go on and on!

Wow. We are finally home. It’s been more than 15 hours, and i am still hugging Cheesie’s face loyally, not that i am complaining. I’m actually glad that i make her look so much cuter. And brighter. Seriously, what is she without me but a dull, mouldy cheese.

However, all good things must come to an end. She finally takes out her make-up remover and gives me a rest.

Well, i guess i will see her again tomorrow then. Looking forward to it. 🙂

Haih.

Cancelled my trip to Japan. It’s more like for the sake of not worrying people who care about me since there are so many rumors and warnings, like not to eat Japanese food for the next 10 years if not your baby will become a mutant octopus or something like that.

Ok i exaggerated. But that’s exactly how rumors come about.

So i was very sad. Listening to Japanese songs also sad. Eat Japanese food also sad. Wear Japanese make up also sad. Totally unnecessarily dramatic and overreacting and utterly whiny and annoying.

The other day someone left a comment on my blog and said i should “calm the fuck down”, which i agree la. There’s nothing much i could do to help the situation except donating, which i already did, unless i actually fly to Japan and physically help out, which people fear i risk turning myself into a mutated glittery Na’vi who probably has skin cancer, which i don’t intend to.

Then the fella also commented that i should stop pretending as if i worship the ground Japanese people walk on. Haih. actually, i don’t only worship the ground they walk on, i wish I WAS  the asphalt that fills up the cracks of their shattered ground.

I also wish i have hands so long i can hug the entire Japan.

Over these years i have gotten so many remarks saying that i should stop pretending to be a Japanese, or i should stop trying to be a Japanese, because i am not. I am, of course not. Even if i changed my name to Gyu Tan, i’m just a yummy ox tongue in Japanese, not a Japanese. When i was dating TK, i also received the nastiest comments saying i’m a traitor who forgot how Japanese people killed out ancestor and raped our women.

Problem is, i didn’t even experience it, let alone remember, so how to forget? I didn’t grow up having my grandparents or mom asking me to detest Japanese. I grow up with famicon, Sony, Honda, Toyota, domokun, Doraemon, Hello Kitty and more. Nobody ask me not to play with them also. I simply cannot relate to something that happened like what, sixty years ago? Plus for a fact, i know that most of the young Japanese people still feel bad about what happened in the past, and if anything, the horrible history has made them strive to be better people, which they did.

I have seen some people brought up the issue of Pearl Harbour or whatever during the earthquake, and to some of the Japanese people replied, “we really have nothing at our defense to say to that”.

That said, it’s not like i love every single aspect of Japan (people/culture) to the max la. I do have many bad experiences and negative thoughts about Japan sometimes. The most obvious one was when people ask me (all the time), “Since you like it so much, why don’t you move to Japan?”, it got me thinking for a very long time. I don’t think i can work and live there permanently, simply because i don’t think i can adapt fully to the way the whole society functions.

And dating a Japanese was also one of the most stressful time in my life because i was so imperfect in so many ways. The way i ate, the way i held my chopsticks, the way i spoke, the way i dressed and even the way i sat and walked, was all wrong. And i had to learnt a whole new culture all over again. And it wasn’t without much heartbreak and tears. After the whole thing i was just like, fuck this shit, i will never date a Japanese ever again.

But on hindsight, even though it seemed like a lot of sacrifices and humiliation and utter ego-deflation, i realized that i have become a more civilized and well-mannered person. It’s true. I would have frowned too if i see the way i behaved back then, so it’s all good.

As for criticizing me to be a Japanese wannabe and acting as if i’m ashame of my own culture and roots. Honestly? I am indeed a little ashamed of my culture and roots, especially after witnessing the earthquake and how i would have reacted differently under the same predicament. I am ashamed that i am rude, selfish and irresponsible.

Just ponder, how many of us here, can queue orderly outside a store, grab as little food as you need so that other people get their share too, when your whole family is starving? How many of us here, can remain calm and actually attempt to protect the store and give priority to customers when an emergency happens? I most definitely can’t do the same. Not even close.

I have seen enough people who lose their temper or behave nastily just because they didn’t get what they want, or lose a game, or lose a gamble, or just lose their face. They threaten, fight and curse the other person’s entire family and pets plus three generations of ancestors and maybe throw a chair or two. Imagine what happens when you are dealing with death, and everyone is in panic?

But the people in Japan displayed utmost good will, discipline and generosity when one of the world’s most horrible disasters happens.

There are so many other stories and example i have read and seen personally, that brought many tears to my eyes. These are the most excellent examples of a human specimen.

Which brings back to my question. Is it so wrong, after all, to try to want to be a better human (like the Japanese)? Not to mention they also created/have one of (i added “one of” in case some French or Americans or Singaporeans get defensive.) the world’s best food, best hygiene system, best social manners, most adored fashion scene and most efficient services and crisis management.

I think if the world is full of people like these, maybe we don’t really need a heaven after all.

This is probably like the first time i consciously follow any world news update since college time (that time did it because didn’t want to fail my papers). My mom always hinted that i’m a disgrace to my field of work because i’m probably the only person in journalism who doesn’t read the news .

Yesterday there was a lot of angst going on the internet, with the Berita Harian cartoon thing and also all the Pearl Harbour retribution remarks. I was upset too and wanted to stab the balls of a random Librian (in my head). But i think this world has got enough of negativity going on. Instead of condemning those idiots we should just focus on the hopeful side of it.

Here’s an email i received from Yuriko.

Yuriko is my host mom from Nagano whom i homestayed with two years ago. If i were to find the genesis of my Mentaiko Obsession, i would say that she incepted me. With her cooking wtf. However, i lost contact with her soon after i left Nagano (totally my fault).

And when i heard from TK that there was casualty in Nagano i was worried so i sent her an email, which she replied promptly within two hours.

The email is titled “Support From Malaysia”. And she said how thankful she is that so many countries including Malaysia and sending help to Japan.

Just so you know, all the help we gave in any small way, or even just emotional support is appreciated. So please do continue to contribute if you can.

ALL my host families replied my email to report safety instantly, even though they are still emotionally (and most of them also physically wtf) shaken by the disaster. I think they are more worried that people are worried about them than i am worried about them wtf.

If there’s a blessing in disguise out of this heartbreaking disaster, it is that i’m in touch with all my friends and host family from Japan again, some whom i’ve lost touch with, including an ex boyfriend i haven’t spoken to in months. Everything just seems trivial now in comparison to by the sheer magnitude of damage and grief. And that how this tragic event has made humans more human in understanding each other’s pain.

Someone posted a comment about this native Japanese who made a remark that even though he is sad that this happened, he is glad in some way that it happened to Japan and not any other country, purely because of how well prepared his country is of facing a crisis, otherwise the damage would have been unimaginable. If it had happened to Malaysia it would have disappeared on map and we would have been extinct wtf.

And then i saw this video. It’s recorded in a supermarket in Japan during the tremor.

The calmness during a critical situation, the loyalty and dedication they have to their profession, and the absolute selflessness they demonstrated, was simply…. i don’t even have a word for it.

I just wonder how many people can do that when an earthquake is happening. Hmmm the ceiling is falling down. I must save the wine.

Still in great shock reading all the tweets about Japan earthquake/tsunami on my timeline. So horrifying to witness the live tweets on how they still feel the aftershock every so often and everyone seems to be still panicking. It is so heartbreaking to read i actually cried.

Was reading my fav Popteen model Sun Wei’s live tweets, she was alone at home when it happened and fell unconscious during the tremor  and injured herself. She also kept saying how she panicked and felt helpless and frightened all by herself. T_T

It’s also touching to see the Japanse celebrities and models i follow sending out messages and RTing to help out. I just hope there’s something i could do to help out too. For some reason it has greatly affected me and i’m more upset than when disasters happened to a much nearer place like, Thailand or something. It’s a place so dear to me, and you can see the ♥ in the title of all my Japan posts wtf.

Not like i drama or something, but i really feel real pain in the heart just to think about it. Didn’t even dare to look at the live video feeds, confirm cry maximus. I just think it’s way too beautiful to be destroyed like this.Plus Aud and i will be traveling to Tokyo in a couple of week’s time and it would sadden us to see it in such a calamitous state. But thank god the authorities damn fucking efficient judging from the updates on twitter, everything was restored so quickly i want to cry again wtf. #overactivetearduct. Hopefully death  toll will be kept to miniminiminmum.

Just sent out emails to my host families, hope they are all safe since they are outside the affected areas.

For once i actually feel quite glad that i’m in Malaysia and it makes me ponder alot about the time (which is almost all the time) i loathed it so much and swore that i was going to move out someday maybe to a country like Japan. I may want to really appreciate not the good things (still cynical and bitter wtf), but some of the bad things that didn’t happen here.

But all these disastrous events really made me paranoid, like, what’s next? Will anything happen to Malaysia? When will it hit me?  Will we all die? When will the world come to an end? Isit 2012 wtf?

Please please please let this pass soon, whatever divine force that created this earth. Just to show my sincerity, i will even pray, to you, free thinker’s equivalent of God. I want my beautiful Japan back.

March is a happy month, because St Patrick’s Day is here again!

So this year, it’s merrier and more happening, and they are in search of talented people for performances on the big day!

A very talented and ambitious girl, Audition, goes for the… erm… audition.

The moment Audition walks in, the judges asks her…

Audough her move is deemed really aud to some people, the judges are very impressed by her audriginality and audacity. They let her pass the audition.

They choose four young talented people to run the show.

Audition audomatically becomes the Lead Dancer for the main performance on the big night. Coincidentally, Audition’s ex dog’s owner’s cousin’s psychiatrist’s tortoise’s vet, Ringhoul, was also selected as one of the performer’s that night! What are the auds!

Millions of visitors rush to the event in their roaring Audi…. bikes.

It is a wonderful night for the four of them. Except that…. they didn’t realize Ringhoul is actually audistic and afraid of the crowd.

She freaks.

And that isn’t the only hiccup of the night.

Yuno, an annoying orange, also has his complaints about the show.

However it is a great, sporting crowd. They have much fun after all.

After the show, Audition decides that she is fungry and she rides her audobike to go supper.

Yuno is being annoying, as usual, and Ringhoul is glad the stage horror is finally over.

However, nobody remembers someone they left behind.

It was someone. Err… it was… gimme a sec.

Oh! I remember! It is their fourth member, whose name is…. hmm let me get to that when i remember. Anyway, someone who was overshadowed and forgotten on stage. (Pls scroll up for evidence)

Europeans are so healthy. Their food party always have lots of greens. They will have, say, a bowl of buttered corn, some vinegared shredded carrot, a bowl of fresh mixed lettuce, some boiled broccoli, some artichoke, some beet root, sour cream and cucumber…  I wonder why Malaysian cannot do the same, is it because our veggies suck?

If i mention a Malaysian house party what comes to your mind? Hmmm. I’d say curry chicken. Fried chicken. Fried bee hoon. Fried nuggets. Fried samosa. And maybe fried spring rolls. Then coleslaw from KFC wtf.

I know i’m indisputably awesome, but let’s just say that, sometimes, i do have my Y U NO moments too.

This is my Y U NO Orange.

Then one day, my Y U NO Orange spoke.

So i carefully gave my Y U NO Orange a gentle squeeze. Then he said:

Wa instantly i felt offended.

“What do you mean!? I think you got my blog slogan wrong! It’s DAILY DOSE OF CALCIUM, Y U NO READ PROPERLY?”

“Y U NO GO GOOGLE DAILYAWESOMEDOSE ?!” he replied.

So i begrudgingly did, and i found this.

I think my Y U NO guy is trying to hint to me that i don’t take enough Vitamin C. T_T

But Whoa! My fav Sunkist Orange Juice has an awesome new look!

Not only that, it also has an awesome contest, which needs you to only get a Sunkist pack with the word Awesome, snap and awesome photo, submit and win awesome prizes!!!

So i bought my awesome Sunkist packs.  Sunkist is not only my fav, but also the ONLY orange juice i drink in Malaysia because it’s 100% freshly squeezed. Also because they have the one with lots and lots of pulp that i like <3!!!

Still cannot get over how hot Maiko and Lie are. Tried experimenting a lot of Kara Style (bronze make up, multiple layers of false lashes, red lips).

Then made myself a Koakuma Ageha cover page wtf. *delusional

It’s actually super simple to make. Key is to make your skin super smooth and white until cannot see nose, eye make up super dark, and an overwhelming amount of glitters and sparkle and diamonds and rhinestones and anything shiny.
