Tokyo Omiyage Autumn 2016

October 13, 2016

Quick blog post while Sakura is napping and Junya is doing his puzzles! Just got back to Singapore last night and half-unpacked our luggages and snapped these pictures to share ^^

1.Konnyaku Jelly

My favorite because they are so yummy! Love the refreshing fruity taste <3 The one in red is cereal though haha.

2. Snacks

Cheeza has specialty versions like Avocadoza, Ebeeza, this time they have Gomaaza!! One pack of Gomaaza is made of 3000 black sesame. Just how much exactly is 3000 pieces of sesame? The Glico website has an interesting post on this. read more

Pokemon Center Mega Tokyo

October 1, 2016

Quick post!

Since we are staying nearby and I’m still all #pokeMOMgo crazy, we visited the Pokemon Center in Ikebukuro Sunshine City. This post is for all Pokemon (or PokemonGo) fans!

I remember going there when Junya was 6 months old. The danna asked, “is Pokemon popular in Malaysia?” (He probably thought it would be a good topic for me to introduce to my readers) I shrugged and said probably not. But I’m glad there are maybe more people will find this post useful now! 😀

Keio Rail-Land

August 29, 2016

Quick post on the theme park we visited with Cheesiepetit during our stay in Tokyo.

We are running out of new major theme parks to visit so we are starting to explore the lesser-known ones. Who knows we may find a few hidden gems!

Junya loves vehicles in general so we decided to bring him to see some trains this time.

The Keio Rail-Land theme park/Museum is operated by Keio Electric Railway Company and is located in Hino city, Tokyo. It is adjacent to the train station “Tama Dobutsukouen” on the Keio Dobutsuen Line. It’s quite a distance from Tokyo, we drove there and it took us about 40 minutes. read more

Ringer Hut – Nagasaki Champon

August 17, 2016

(This is about the noodle from Kyushu, not the Shiba in our house.)

I rarely do restaurant reviews but today I want to introduce a fast-food chain called Ringer Hut in Japan, which specializes in Nagasaki Champon.

The danna would crave for Ringer Hut every now and then when we are back to Japan. I have had Ringer Hut many times before, while I think it is quite delicious, it never struck me as life-changing, as how Ichiran Ramen does for some foreign tourists.

But then I understood that it was because Champon is the danna’s soul food since he grew up eating it in Nagasaki. He said it is just like fried beehoon for me. Yeah that makes sense. My whole childhood was pretty much all about fried beehoon lolol. The school canteen sold it, birthday parties or any sort of gathering/party would for sure have it, my mom cooks it (until today). read more

Tokyo Dome City

July 31, 2016

Quick post!!

Two days ago I brought Junya and Sakura to Asobono! at Tokyo Dome City and had a date with my mamatomo Sayaka and her kids.

I just feel so lucky to have mama friends in all the cities we travel to! If not I’ll really be by myself at home with 2X cheesiepetit all the time T___T.

If you are looking for half a day to spend with kids in Tokyo, you can visit Tokyo Dome City, a huuuuuge entertainment town in Tokyo (subway station: Yurakucho). There are outdoor and indoor attractions and theme parks, a onsen spa complex and lots of shopping too! read more

Tokyo Toy Museum

July 9, 2016

When you travel with two kids age 2 and below, attractions you can visit are limited. But it doesn’t stop us from exploring new places!

Tokyo is full of hidden gems. I was gonna bring Junya to Asobono again and let him play to his heart’s content the whole day, but sooooo happened it was closed for renovation during our trip this time T_T. I did some research and came across a new place called the Tokyo Toy Museum, located at Yotsuya, Shinjuku-Ku (the nearest stations are Yotsuya-sanchome station and Akebonobashi Station, although we walked all the way from Isetan Shinjuku!) read more

Traveling in Tokyo with kids

July 4, 2016

Level 6:  Unlocked.

We were preparing to bring both cheesiepetit back to Japan some time in autumn this year, but it looked like we had to accept the challenge much earlier than expected.

The danna didn’t want to be away from the kids all the timeso we decided to just travel as a family wherever we go. First stop: Singapore. Second stop: Tokyo.

So… here’s our life in Tokyo, as a family of four.

Flying

First flight for the four of us. Sakura’s first flight at 1.5 months old and Junya’s first seat all to himself as he just turned two. read more

Tokyo Dome City: Asobono

April 13, 2016

Tokyo update!

On one of the danna’s off days we decided to visit an indoor theme park since it was a full day rainy day and we couldn’t go for any outdoor activities.

I have blogged about Inzai Fantasy Kids Resort before in Chiba, it’s too far to travel there so we looked for a them park nearer to us in Tokyo, and decided to go to Tokyo Dome City’s ASObono, one of the largest indoor kids theme parks in Tokyo.

It’s huuuuge! This is the baby area (below 2 years old). read more

Eat Tokyo Spring 2016

March 29, 2016

It’s the food post again!!!

You can read my past Tokyo food posts under this category.

Anyway, guilty confession: I did zero cooking this time around T___T. Not even for Junya T___T. Usually I would at least cook for him so that he doesn’t have to eat the same heavily seasoned adult food. This time around I could not even bend over to wear my shoes properly so I thought I’d give myself a break. T__T.

But I am so glad that he is almost two now!! So I can feed him table food and feel less guilty about it. So for the entire two weeks, he eats out with us, or… combini food most of the time @.@. read more

Tokyo Life 2016: Shopping & Omiyage!

March 22, 2016

A post on shopping and souvenirs in Tokyo!!

Having stayed in Singapore for a short period of time put many things in perspective.

First of all, when in Tokyo doing groceries:

OMG WHY EVERYTHING SO CHEAP OK BUY ALLLLLLLL.

Remember the $22 broccoli in Singapore? Well I can feed a whole farm of bunnies here.

My grocery!!! I can even splurge on one of the most atas ranges and YET still at least half the price cheaper than Japanese groceries in Singapore.

Ibarakiss Ichigo from Ibaraki Prefecture for like $8, grapes for like $3, super premium Mexican avocado for $4 and also some super sweet fruit tomato for $4, which Singapore sells at $12. Siaooooooo. read more
