Almost every other day i receive emails asking me questions about Japan.
I used to answer really nicely and give suggestions because talking about Japan alone makes me happy, but recently i’m doing that less because when i do, 90% of the time i don’t even get a reply or some sort just to say “thank you” or something along that line, so i started to feel like i’m Wikitravel in an insignificant way. Except that i’m still honored that you consult me before you even go to uncle Google or Wikitravel. So Google/Wiki, i win.
And also, they look upon me as a travel consultant so highly to the point most of the questions asked are like this:
Hi! I’m traveling to Japan in (month) with my (travel companion), i would really appreciate if you can recommend some places to go and things to do there as it’s my first time to Japan.
I am really quite impressed and overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude and immensity of the question alone. It’s almost like asking God: Care to tell me every damn thing you know about the universe?
Fine. Maybe God is less of an asshole like me and he will give you a nicely crafted long and detailed answer written with unicorn hair brush dipped in florescent rainbow beam ink on a piece of fluffy cloud, but there’s a reason why i’m not God, you see.
So, the non-God me have decided to stop answering all emails pertaining questions like that from now on.
Instead, i am going to just give you a link, which contains more than 150 blog posts i have written over 6 years or so regarding a lot a lot a lot a lot a lot of things about Japan. If you still cannot find anything remotely useful for you, then i’ll be damned and can only admit that i am, truly, a shit blogger. I apologize in advance for things you cannot find there.
The holy link is this:
http://cheeserland.com/japan
You are welcome.
And actually, i am also a little kinder than you think (still not as great as God), so i’m making things even easier for you.
Here are the 100 things you may or may not ask or want to know, depending on the topic of your interest.

i used to dislike your post about Japan cos I’ve never been there.. but after my Proposalmoon in Japan, i think i’ve entered your religion. Not sure if it’s a good thing or not, but.. I’m missing Japan so bad.. hahaha..

I love this post and the last 2 points =)
Such a long and helpful post! I had to stop on all the food pictures as they make me sooo hungry. Dx
will bookmark this page and refer to it when i plan my trip to japan.. 10000x thank you! ^.^
Ahhhhhhmazing 😀
Some really nice suggestions.nYou’ve been to a few regions in Japan already.nPersonally I love Okinawa, especially the Yaeyama Islands a lot.nAs I live in Kansai, I’ve been to most places there. nnI’m not a huge Tokyo fan, so I’m rarely there to be honest.nnTohoku is awesome in late April. The cherry blossoms are so beautiful.nOne of my personal highlights was “Cat Island”. You can see some photos of my trip here: nhttp://zoomingjapan.com/travel/tashirojima-cat-island/nnAlthough I’ve been in Japan for 6+ years and have travelled to all 47 Japanese prefectures, there’s always something new to discover and it never gets boring! ^_____^
That’s so amazing! I wanna do exactly that! I believe every city has something unique and alluring about it! Thanks for your link too!

Lol! I think this helps to simplify alot and i can’t imagine the total time you put in for this post! nnIf they really can’t seems to find their answer, they would really go to google. lol!nnI’m going to Osaka next year and it’s so awesome that you actually summarize which post I should refer to. Haha.. Sorry but here’s one more q >.<‘ , is the usual Sakura blooming season ard end of March in Osaka?nnThanks Cheesie! *big huge* and hope to see your cute baby soon! ^^ Have a safe delivery~ 😀 (sorry if it’s too early to say this =X)nnhttp://tenshichn.blogspot.com
I was mostly reading through the blogpost without clicking the links (yet) until I got to the last one. Lolol. nYour blogposts are amazing as usual and thank you for your wonderful effort, esp in compiling all these!
omg.. awesome post ever. I have tried to absorb as much information as I could over your past blog trips but omg it was scattered everywhere.. and in this post you have just made it so simple. Almost like one of those dummy books hahahaha. Too bad I have one question and I dont think its been mentioned..so i tried your last link, i literally LOL-ed. Anyway, from all your posts, I feel more confident that I am able to save up money for a trip to Japan. If only my partner could agree with me in terms of going on budget travelling but he likes to spend lavishly whenever its a holiday trip, so that makes the trip a “dream” instead of a possibility since its impossible to spend lavishly in our situation T_T nonetheless, thank you so much for this, and I shall try to convince my partner to atleast try the budget way! 😀
Love the answer to question #100.. Ehehehe…
Thank you for this awesome post! will be my reference for my trip, hopefully to catch the sakura. 🙂
Hi Cheesie :3 I’ve been reading your blog for the whole day T.T miss all your old posts! It’s amazing how far you’ve come. Congratulations <3
is it needed to know japanese or english is enough for a trip?
homaikot, very comprehensive haha!
this is an amazing compilation! though my question was not inside… i’m reading all your japan post religiously to plan for my upcoming trip in end April! I’m so excited to be going to Japan free & easy for the first time! Now, if only i can ship those mentaiko back from Fukuoka!!
I love how the last one links to google hahaha!
This post made me LOL. You sound so pissed off but this list is so intensely useful!! Why don’t you pair up with Tourism Japan and demand to be paid as a tourism ambassador blogger + get free trips?
I use the re entry lane. Which is empty ALL THE TIME lol
Nvm!!! They don’t have to pay me for things that make me happy!
Hehehe
Ok la what’s your question!
(Y)
No I don’t think you need to know Japanese!
Aww thank you!! For spending so much time on crap pages haha
Thank you too!
Thanks for clicking the links haha
Ok la share me your question!
I know right last one is a clicker!
Yea usually it’s between march/apr :))
Thank you too!
I wanna try that too!!!! Going to every single prefecture!!!
hahaha this is such an amazing post
Hi Cheesie!nFirstly, I wanna thank you for always sharing your love for Japan ( and replying to my comments)! I totally can identify with you your love for Japan! hehehe! nnI’ll be going to tokyo in 10 days time! I can’t wait! If I happen to see you is it ok if I ask you for a photo together? hehehe~~~~~~~~nnAnyway, do enjoy your stay in Japan nao!!!nThis post is mechaaaaaaaaaaa good for my trip!nnI hope I can seeeeee all the hanami!nnnn
Wow, so much great information. This is why your blog is such a useful resource on Japan. And you look absolutely STUNNING in the “I Love Shopping” image!
Thank you for compiling them this way. I’ve been reading your blog for a while now but organized this way is much easier. I’m planning to go to Japan with my bf in July (first time traveling together) and will use this post to help organize our trip a little. We’ve both been before but never without a guide, group etc for help and suggestions. Aiyo, I predict I will be a bit stressed since neither of us are A+ Japanese students and are trying to go low budget.nnAlso, I like how you are still getting questions in this comments section lol!
Hamagad I am bookmarking this page for my future trip to Japan! =D I’m taking Japanese classes to prepare now and I am trying to save money like mad so I can go next year T_T Thank you so much Cheesie and I love you! <3

Hahaha I love the last link 😉 and thanks for taking the time to compile!
Thank you cheesie! Always taking notes from whenever you blog about japan!
Last link! Me likey!! 😛
Oh my!. O_OnThis post must have taken you… forever. Thank you SO SO SO SOOOOOO MUCH for this.n♥ Domo arigatou gozaimasu.♥nOf course, I have read all the entries you linked before, but having them neatly sorted into topics things of interest is…the most ingenious and convenient idea and blogpost on Cheeserland ever. Yay!
I think Kyoto and Hokkaido is good. (Of course, Tokyo is interesting, too..)nn・Winter n【ニセコ】(Niseko) ― 北海道(Hokkaido)nhttps://plus.google.com/101003523015115383362/posts/8Jmp9qz4XXUn・・・But, it is cold. (Particularly, the top of the mountain)nn・Spring ~ Fall n【富良野】(Furano) ~ 【美瑛】(Biei) ― 北海道(Hokkaido) nhttps://plus.google.com/101003523015115383362/posts/VimPBpJaMQi
You made the right choice to put this up. I often come to your blog just to browse everything in your Japan tag. Of course, that’s not to say that I don’t browse other tags too (especially love cheddie I MISS HERRRR! and your Europe trips as well) and I never ever gotten sick of it. Your photos are amazing!nnUnfortunately you can’t stop people from asking you these questions. A lot of times I get asked a lot about Tokyo in particular even though I swear that I have told these same people several times that I never went Tokyo before, unless you would want to count the one time I was in Tokyo for transit to Hokkaido. I’m much more familiar with Hokkaido since I’ve been there twice.
This post is just gold lah! why you so nice one..
Thank you!!! 🙂
Thank you soooo much! Your comment made it all worth it too! :))) although yes it did take me a long time to compile this but now I’m so glad to know that it is of use to some people, and that you guys seem to enjoy it. Thank you again.
Su Vin: I don’t know why my reply doesn’t show on imotiv T_T. Anyway just wanted to say thank YOU.
Hi Cheesie,nMy God, u so kind to come out with 100 FAQ including the answer’s link. Thank you so much! Really appreciate ur time to do this. *Fav this entry and use this when I visit Japan one fine day*nThanks a lot once again *hug*
Cheesie this is the funniest and greatest post I have ever read OMG. I get asked “How much will my Japan trip cost?” by people so much and I’m just like, “I don’t know your life man! Why would you think I would know?! 1 MILLION DOLLARS!”
Hi Cheesie, I’m so appreciate that you did this 100 faq about Japan with all the links of your posts! Especially about sakura one, it really helps me a lot to read them all. This is really the ultimate post ever <3. Thank you for sharing this Cheesie, sincerely grateful a lot.
This post is awesome ^^ Just what i need to catch up on your japan posts 🙂 But, may i ask what is so fantastic about japanese convenience store that everyone goes crazy over them? :O thank you! 😀
Cheesie thank you so so much for this post appreciate it!! Been wanting to go to Japan but have absolutely no idea where to start with. Gosh imagine 100 qns having to hyperlink each with one link if one took 1 minute which is impossible so you probably took more than 100 minutes to do this post, prolly hours or days! Appreciate so much! Definitely gng to favourite this! <3
this post is reminiscent to your older ones.. the kind you’d write when you first started out blogging. (‘: i know it’s a lil weird and all that but i’ve actually known your blog for ages & ages. when i first stumbled on your blog, i’d leave comments and you’d actually take the time to not only reply comments (on your blog), you’d also take the time to come by my (very many at the the time) blog(s) and leave comments of your own!!nnanyway, thank you for writing this post (: ni know that any time i want a good heaping dose of allthingsjapan, all i have to do is hit cheeserland.com. it’s funny how i’ve never ever been to japan but through you and because of your blog, i love it so much already <3
Thank you so much!!! And so sorry I haven’t updated blog as often or reply as often, but really appreciate all of you who make effort to leave comments and read ♡
i love this and have been going back to this list for the past few years. so useful! maybe its time to update the tohoku part since you have a few good posts recently. or FAQ part 2? 😀
Such a perfect list especially with the food, great article! I hope you can take a look at my list as I did one for newcomers, regular travellers and people planning to live in Japan:
